I'm upgrading from an iPhone 4 to 5s and I need a new case. I have an otterbox defender on this one and I like it but it's bulky. Does anyone have one they love that is drop proof (I'm a klutz and so is my daughter) and has a built in screen protector and that I can possibly get in purple?

Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks, ladies! I ended up having a credit for selling back my old phone and I used it to get a new otterbox defender. They are slimmer and fit much more easily in my pocket, plus you get to pick the inner and outer color, so I got purple on the outside and a pretty aqua blue on the inside. So far I love it. I guess I shouldn't mess with what I know works. :)

I use a rubber type case from Staples. They have lots of colors and they are about $20.

I don't like OtterBox because it won't slide in my pocket as well. I had a Speck that I liked but the hard piece close to home button would always break about every 6 months.

Staples has a good selection from about $20 up all brands.

They make a slimmer Otter Box now. I love mine! Really cute graphics, too.

Otter box armor series. It is water proof as well. My husband's work issues them because they destroy phones out in the field.

TF you should check out the armor series, they don't have that rubbery outside casing.

The Survivor slim is great. My husband (who works in construction and absolutely abuses his phone) loves his, and recently bought ones for me and for our daughter. They're great. They perform as well as the Otterbox in drop tests, but are about half the size, and a lot less bulky feeling in your hand.

I have a case by Pandamimi (bought on Amazon) that I really like on my phone. I also have a Pandamimi case on my iPod. I recommended the Pandamimi cases to my friend and she bought one for herself, for her daughter and for her mother.

Some of the Pandamimi cases have a built in screen protector. The ones that don't usually come with a separate protector. Pandamimi cases are inexpensive and offer just as much protection as an Otterbox Defender case, are not as bulky and come in a wide variety of colors and patterns. I used to have an Otterbox defender on my old iPod. Love the Pandamimi cases more that the Otterbox.

i have the otterbox. it's not perfect- it IS bulky and doesn't slide easily into pockets, nor does it fit in my running armband, grrr. but it does protect my IP5S beautifully. and it's PURPLE!

My kids have Otterbox Defender on theirs. I bought them on Groupon for $20 instead of the $50 the stores sell them for. Son's first one was a little rubbery and grippy... and he took it in and out of the case so that the rubbery part got a little loose and eventually he tore/broke a piece of it. Daughter didn't get hers until about 6 months later, and hers is the same case, but it seems they have modified them a little since I ordered my son's.

When his got less sturdy feeling (due to his actions I believe), I ordered him a new one and it is just like my daughter's. Instead of an opening over the home button (for fingerprint reading) it has an integrated plastic cover there. It is a little smaller than the first one, I think. Definitely less "rubbery".

Daughter's is purple and berry (almost looks like a wonky shade of dark blue, and then a muted raspberry accent color) and son's new one is navy with a bright (but not quite lime) green accent color. They both are very happy with them. And they both stick them in their pockets all the time. In fact, that's where my son's always is if it isn't in his hands or put up for the night.
I know for a fact they've both been dropped in these cases, and their phones are perfectly fine. In fact, one day, son was goofing around (teens, I tell ya) and went to fake throwing his phone, only it slipped and he DID throw it across the room. Luckily it landed on the sofa... we all collectively gasped.
But I've dropped it on accident when I was moving it from where he set it to charge one night. Face down onto the tile floor. The phone is flawless. Daughter dropped hers getting into the car for school the other morning (loaded down with multiple gym bags/backpacks) and it landed face down in the garage. Hers is still flawless as well.

Check Groupon out. They regularly offer these for around $15 plus shipping, which comes out to right around $20 and they arrive in about a week.

I use the otter box commuter. It's very good and less bulky. Plus I love the cute lime green color I got! It was a pain putting on bc the screen protector is this annoying piece of plastic that you need to take the thin plastic coating off of first. I didn't realize that and was having a hard time till I did. My phone has been dropped on our tile floor many times and it worked very well!
