Bruce cleaner is good, and I like Murphy's Oil soap better than Orange Glow, but they all leave a bit of a residue IMO. You can also use a mixture of vinegar and a very small amt. of oil and water. Use a small amount with a mop (or by hand). You don't want to saturate the floor, just get the mop damp enough to pick up the dirt.

I use orange glo spray and the mop that comes with it at target. You can use very little water, only very slightly damp to touch. And you spray the mop head (not the floor) I would say it is also a very physical job to do it RIGHT, every room in our house is wood except kitchen and bathrooms. I actually don't let anyone touch my floors except my husband, that is his job and he does great! :) I had a maid come once and she put something sticky on them, and she just did the bedroom. I've also heard from other people who don't like the cleaners to do their wood floors. Using the dry swiffer to clean is much easier! Maybe they will just let you do that instead, the swiffer picks up a TON of stuff the vacuum and broom miss! But the generic swiffer does NOT work. Good Luck!

We LOVE the Bruce Hardwood Cleaner from Home Depot. Our's came with a "mop" that applies the cleaner really well. Your customers will be VERY impressed at how great their floors look and no residue!
Good luck with your new business!

G.,
I have hardwood floors in my house. I use a product I buy at Home Depot called Bruce Hardwood Floor cleaner. I like it because it doesn't leave a film on my floor. I also use a mop that you can put the cotton covers on and then they can be washed.

Murphy's Oil Soap works great. They actually have something specific for hardwoods.

for hardwood floors I would recommend sweeping and dry mopping with a orange based cleaner. You cannot leave water or cleaner to dry on wood floors it will ruin them over time. Dry mopping is pretty much spraying a cleaner on the floor and going over them with a dry mop. Do not use abrasive cleaners. I use diluted vinegar or orange based cleaners. Murphy's Soap is easy to find too but you have to dilute it so it doesn't leave a sticky residue. Just make sure whatever you do that you dry the floors immediately.

I would love to let you try my floor cleaners. I have several cleaning ladies that purchase all of their cleaning supplies from the company I am a rep with. I deliver free products to try in the area and we have a wonderful, very affordable floor cleaner. I have hardwood myself and love it.

I use the Orange Glo for ours. Whatever you do, do not use the Swiffer Wood floor one...it left so much residue it was rediculous! The Orange Glo comes with the soft cloth mop that you wash. Don't get too wet to mop. Also at Floor & Decor, they have a few good ones, too.

I use windex or the all natural windex by "Method" for my hardwood floors. I am also looking for a cleaning lady. What are your fees for a 3 bedroom, 3 bath, 2 floor home? I am looking for someone to clean every other week and live in McKinney.
