Have you tried Lime-a-way - I think is how it is spelled..... it comes in a green bottle. My parents have very hard water & that seems to help. :)

One day when I was taking a shower, some shampoo got on the glass door, so I took my loofa and wiped it off, and it made the door clean. I've also been using the Automatic Shower cleaner - and it took off the hard water spots.

Hi P.,
Here's what worked for me:
Lemon.

Hard water staines have a "base" pH (the opposite of an acid), so it will take an acid to break up the material.

Cut a lemon in half (wear household cleaning gloves - or you might get a surprise - ouch! lol) and rub the cut lemon surface on your shower door. I'd imagine if limes are cheaper at the store, they'll work just as well.

It may take a little more "elbow grease" than commercial products, but the smell is w-a-y less noxious.

Just a sugg.

White vinegar works miracles. You can use it on pots and pans, too. Tea kettles.

Toothpaste! Get the really cheap white paste and smear it on, buff with a sponge and rinse. I was amazed at how well this works. It doesnt stink like the other cleaners, and is safe to use while showering and makes the bathroom smell minty fresh. Just one common sense "duh" comment if you use it while showering... be sure to rinse your hands well before touching your face. Really stings if you get it in your eyes. (yes, I had to learn that one the hard way. :-0

We had calcified crusting around the faucet and shower door was opaque not clear. I'd run out of a citronella product that I'd tried, so I used a SQUEEZED lemon.
The RIND seems to do the work BETTER with less juice.
The built-up crust came off in CHUNKS... VERY EASILY.. I left it against the sink crust for just a minute.
I didn't have to buy new fixtures because these shine like new. The shower door is now so sleek and clear that I got a sqeegie to slick it down with after a shower.
Funny how when something looks better, you find even more ways to take care of it... EASIER. Feels good too.

I'll second the CLR comment. Works awesome on my shower door.

MR CLEAN ERASERS!!!!!! They work magic. I have a two year old who loves crayons! I also used it on our shower door and it wipes the stains right off.

Just dont use it on a painted wall, it will strip some of the paint or shine away!

As funny as it sounds, go get a bbq grill cleaner. I have used that on my shower door and it is working wonders. I have not noticed any scratches either (I don't scrub extra hard though, just in case).

It is also great for soap scum.

Lime Away works awsome. It has a pretty strong chemical smell, but it works within minutes of putting it on.
