Hard Baby Poops
I am asking this question for my sister. He little 8-month old boy is breastfeeding and eating blended baby food, but for some reason he gets super constipated, and whenever he poops, they are really hard little nuggets and he cries because he has such a hard time passing them. They have tried prune juice (which isn't working, and he doesn't like it anyway). Any of you fabulous ladies have experience with this? What worked for you?
Thanks!

Each of my children experienced the same thing when they began solids. My youngest child (8 months old) just experienced this a little over a month ago when I introduced some to her. I recommend giving the child apple sauce mixed with rice cereal (more apple sauce than cereal though) for the morning feeding every day as it helps promote better/softer bowel movements. I also recommend giving the apple sauce with cereal ONLY for a few days until the bowel movements soften.
I never found prune juice to work well, just apple sauce & juice. Good luck!
Have a GREAT day!

I would give him apple juice straight or mix half with water. Maybe cut down on the solids for a few days until he poops better.

My son had the worst constipation when he was a baby. He once went 10 days without pooping! What worked best for him was pears, and pear juice. When that didn't work, his doctor said to put 1/4 tsp mirlax in his juice every morning. I did that for a while and it helped make things easier for him.
Poor little guy! I hope it works out for him! (pun intended)

Anything with starting with "p" has helped our kids...pears, peaches, etc. Also, make sure he's getting enough liquid. That was the cause of our son's problem with constipation. GL!
