Halo Snuza--Alert System When Baby Stops Breathing
Has anyone used the Halo Snuza. I saw a report on the show The Doctors yesterday about how it saved a baby's life when the baby stopped breathing, it alerted the parents. Then last night on Law & Order: SVU, the baby died of SIDS. I guess with it fresh in my mind, I'm wondering if it's worth it. I think it's worth the $100 a piece (I would need 2), but they also make mats that go under the babies, but I don't know if they are as effective? I've read some online reviews, but only saw about 2 or 3 reviews, so I was hoping to get more. Thanks.

I have the Babysense alarm - my daughter was a preemie & had breathing issues - so the alarm is what helped me sleep better! Was worth EVERY penny!

It is only worth it if there is a reason your child is at risk for SIDS. Ask your doctor. No, despite what you read all children are not at risk for SIDS.

I love my Angelcare monitor for the peace of mind it gives me. Plus it's a great sound monitor when you want to stop using the sensor pad.

i was terrified that i would lose my son over sids. so i got a used angelcare (under mattress) cheap and it was wonderful!!! it was so worth it (i paid like $25 for it). it even told me the temp in the room so i'd know if it was too hot or not.

I don't know about the brand you asked about but I do have the Babysense V. It definitely gave me peace of mind. When my son was sick I felt he was safer in his crib than next to me. I was nervous I might be in a deep sleep whereas in his crib if he stopped breathing or there was no pulse for 6 sec then the alarm would sound. It comes standard with two pads so you don't need to spend any more money and it is battery operated so you don't have to worry about power outage. I am not sure about the new angelcare system but my friend had one and you can use it as a monitor when baby is sleeping to hear them but i found it really annoying as it beeps constantly whereas the Babysense is fixed on a wall in baby's room and the alarm sounds off from that unit so it is not mobile and it is totally silent unless the alarm goes off. It sells for about $125 but you can always use a 20% coupon of find it cheaper online.

I had with both my kids Angelcare and I would not have had it any other way because I was really scared of the possibility of SIDS and it was expensive but totally worth it.

We never used anything like this, but my sister in law loves her angel care monitoring system (the mat that goes underneath). Good luck making your decision.
