Halloween Costumes! - Tonawanda,NY
I'm sure this has been asked a million times... but i'm so ready for fall, its by far my favorite season... I'm thinking pumpkins & raking leaves & HALLOWEEN!
So what are your kids going to be for Halloween this year? Or if they don't know yet - what were they last year?
Are you dressing up too? (for a party? or do you dress up to walk with the kids for Trick or Treating??) :)
Also, how long do/did you take your toddler out Trick-or-Treating? This is our first year going out (our twins will be almost 2) and i'm thinking a quick drive to the grandparent's houses & then just a walk around our little block... but wondering what other moms have done!
Thanks for sharing!
**********
ETA: Last year for our twin's first Halloween they were Little Red Riding Hood & the Big Bad Wolf. I dressed up as the Grandma & hubby was the Woodsman - we went to a friend's 1st Birthday costume party, so much fun!
This year it'll be a Star Wars theme - they'll be Luke & Leia, gotta get them some fun light sabers! (and I think i convinced hubby to wear a Darth Vadar mask & cape so i can be Queen Amidala lol)
I figure i don't have many (if any) more years where they won't have opinion on what they want to be, so i'm taking advantage of it! :)
So What Happened?™
Thanks for sharing all your stories! :)
I definitely want to be home in time to give out some candy too! Trick-or-Treating usually starts around 6 in our neighborhood and its very busy! Lots of kids of all ages and the neighbors all have their lights on waiting for them with candy bowls in hand, so i'm excited :)

Halloween is my Fav holiday. I have been planning on how I am going to make the yard look like a graveyard. My son is two and we will just be taking him to the relatives this year, he will be going as winnie the pooh. i am pregnant and will be wearing an orange shirt with a jack-o-latern face made out of felt. My husband doesn't want to dress up, but we'll see lol.

First of all, I LOVE your ideas for your twins and family! That is so fun!!
When my daughter was 2, we trick or treated in my parents subdivision (since we live out in the country) for about 1.5 hours but it was COLD! We left my 2 month old son at home with the grandparents. Last year, daughter was a little over 3 and son was a little over 1 and we were out for 2 hours (son in stroller) and daughter walking.
This year, even though my parents have moved out of the subdivision, we'll still go Trick or Treating there. I have been trying to convince my 4 year old daughter to be a bride (since I have a beautiful mini bride dress from her grandmother) or a fairy or something that we already have. But she's convinced she wants to be a 'black man without a head' (turns out that costume is a friend of hers who was a ninja with his head covered! She convinced! So if our friend's son can find that costume, she may wear that. Or else we'll be buying a ninja costume!
Son is 2 and doesn't really get a choice (LOL). We have a doctor's jacket and stethescope so I think he'll be a doctor (or vet if we decide to put an animal in the pocket).

Well, I love the Fall. It's my FAVORITE time of year! I already have my kids customes. My 9 yr old daughter is Little red riding hood. (sassy costume new this year) My 4 yr old son is Transformer. I would like to get dress too. I am so busy I always forget myself.
I go to the town next to mind, because no one give candy in my town. I go for an hr. right after dinner. I am actually taking of Monday because its Holloween. I have two school to go to. So what is the point if I am running around most of the day. I also want to make sure they have dinner first and off we go. :)
Can't wait! :) P.S. When I get home I sit outside and give candy myself. ;)

Sounds like you have a great plan. Trust me your twins will get tired out quick. I already have my kids costumes! I usually wear a pumpkin hat with my sparklely Halloween Sweatshirt.

My son is going to be Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon. I'm making his costume so I better start working on it.
My daughter will be Rapunzel from Tangled. She already has the dress and I'll probably get her a blonde wig.
My son didn't really trick or treat until he was 4 when he really wanted the candy and we just go around our neighborhood. My daughter started last year when she was 3 because she had an older brother. But she didn't stay out as long as my son. Before that we just did family.
