Cowboy, jeans, belt, long sleeve shirt. Boots if he has any.

Ghost, old sheet.

Mouse, gray sweat pants and shirt. Add black triangle nose and a few whiskers, can put some fake ears on from Walmart. I wouldn't worry about a tail if you can't buy one quickly.

Cat, same as above but different color sweats.

Put a big name tag on and be a game show contestant. Can dress crazy if that's part of their personality.

Get an orange tee shirt and some sticky back felt. Be a jack O' lantern.

He could wear a pair of sunglasses on his head..

And a red bandana sticking out of his back pocket

Your best bet is to go to a thrift store (or costume store) and get ideas based on what you find. Good luck!

A spy
A secret service agent (think Men in Black)
A duct tape costume...lots of ideas online.
A stick man. Wear all black, make a stick figure out of white duct tape. It would be cool to do this with glow in the dark tape
A goul or death (hooded black cape, mask or face painting, maybe a scythe)

I had a pediatrician show up for an appointment with empty single-serve cereal boxes hot-glued to his jacket with plastic butter knives stabbed through them and red nail polish to look like blood. He was a "Cereal Killer" ... get it?! hahaha I thought it was ingenious. Also, it takes very little to be a zombie. Old torn up clothes, some pale makeup and the "walk". :)

Does he play soccer, football, or baseball? Have him wear his team uniform! (Or karate, rugby... whatever activity he does after school?) Does he have a friend? Get them red shirts, and tape a big white circle to the shirts. Write in the circles, Thing 1 and Thing 2! Or wear a red-striped shirt, beanie hat, and glasses - Where's Waldo?

He could be a sports player - throw on any of his old sports gear...or current.

Does last year's costume fit?

Be a zombie - dress in all black?
