Rio Rancho has the best carnival. It's at the Baptist Church near Haynes Park. It is outdoors so a light jacket or sweater is recommended. They have lots of game booths, which are free, and they also serve free hot dogs and drinks. You don't have to belong to the church.

I know in Moriarty there is the McCall Pumpkin patch. They give hay rides and take you to the patch where you and child can pick out any pumpkin. I have never been but friends who have gone with their children say it is so much fun!! A family member of ours goes every year. For trick or treating the zoo has a night for kids to dress up and they hand out candy. again i've never been, (this is my first year with my own child so I'll be experiencing this stuff!!) but i have also heard that is fun.
as for a good library....i live in the Menaul/Penn area and I really like the Wyoming library and the Erna Ferguson (sp?) library. they are more in my area though. They have storytime days for toddlers. I know the Wyoming library has it on Wed. at 10:30. their children's area is adorable!!
Good luck and have fun!!

Hi S.,
The Greek Festival is usually during the first weekend of Balloon Fiesta.
It's also a great time to go pick raspberries at the farm north of Las Vegas.
Have fun!!!

Hi S.,
McCalls is a lot of fun for younger ages as in Dixons Apple Orchard. You can probably find both online. They are both a little out of Abq, but worth the time.

My son attends A Child's Garden preschool and they are having an indoor event called Goblins in the Garden. They have it every year and non-students are welcome. Here is the link if you want to call or email for details:

I have seen several church pumpkin patches popping up as well. Wagner Farms in Corrales has a great thing going - pick your own pumpkin, pick your own apple, hayride, corn maze, etc. We went last year and it was definitely a hit.

Fall events... First off, the balloon fiesta. Second, check at Manzano Mesa elementary school which is nearby. (Southern and Elizabeth.) They have a fall festival every year. As far as pumpkin patches, you definately should go to the one in Moiarty... I'm blank on the name right now but it has hay rides and corn mazes as well as a pumpkin patch you can pick your pumpkin from.
Now for the library question. All the Albuquerque libraries are connected. They don't each carry all the books, but if you know what one you want to read you can have it delivered to the library of your choice using the online reservation option. (I use it all the time. Who has time to go all over town looking for a book.) Just get a library card and you are good to go. Lomas and Tramway is probably the closest.
