Hairspray Stain on Microfiber Couch
My 16 month old son found a pen and went crazy on a couch cushion. I found on here that hairspray would take up the stain with a cloth and blotting action. the ink came up no problem. there was still hairspray on the couch so i used a clean cloth and luck warm water and blotted to take up any excess hairspray. The next day light kind of hard hairspray stains remain. Anything I can do to get the faint hairspray stain up??

SOL-U-MEL will get it out…whatever it is. I used it just this weekend to get non-washable marker off the fridge and pen off the furniture. I use it as a stain lifter on clothes too. It’s amazing. Are you able to remove the cushion/cover and throw it in the gentle cycle of the wash machine??

i use sol-u-mel. it is the best stain fighter EVER. i use it to get the pen, marker, juice, syrup, etc out of our microfiber sofa. im sure it would get the hair spray too. it helps deodorize too. you have to buy it online, and im not sure how you feel about that, but for me its worth it. i just started buying all of my cleaning stuff through them, it made it a lot easier. http://www.HealthySafeAndClean.com is where you can go if you want to check it out. Just fill out an information request and say that you want to know about natural stain fighters, someone will call you with the details.

Did you repeat with the warm water? That would be my best guess because the residual you see there is probably the "adhesive" that is present in the hair spray. It's designed to be removed with water and shampoo; so a repeat with the water should work. The next step would be to use an extremely dilute solution of water and shampoo followed by water again. Try to not get the spot too wet as then you're just flushing the stain into the cushion behind the fabric.

My last microfiber couch was horrible about collecting stains. I was constantly online trying to find tricks of the trade. Our couch would get water rings any time I cleaned up a mess...it was awful. Wiping the area with a baby wipe helped. I wonder if that trick might work for the hairspray spot too?

I'd honestly recommend contacting the manufacturer. We had a microfiber sofa that showed everything. I didn't pay attention to details on how to clean it, and I probably exacerbated the issue using solutions instead of the water that was recommended.
Sorry I don't have better advice - it's an expensive item to ruin, so I wouldn't want to accidentally misdirect you.
Good luck!
