We've tried many places and our older son just hates having his haircut. Particularly if they use the shears. We found a fabulous woman who works in a barber shop. It's Quinn's Barbers in the Big Lots shopping center on the corner of Aviation and Prospect in North Redondo. The woman's name is Mary and her number is ###-###-####.

She's so great. If your child really can't sit still in the chair, they have an area with lots of toys and books and she will cut his hair while the child plays. Our older son is really noise sensitive and hates the shears, so she'll always try them, but if he gets too upset she'll just use scissors.

Good luck finding a place you like. We went through many before we found Mary.

Take care,
B.

P.S. If she asks who referred you, you can say Gabriel & Jeremy's mom.

I know I've seen a place in the P.V. mall that caters to children's first hair cuts, I'm sure they'd be great with toddlers too.

i have to agree with bonnnie...try a barber. i have taken my twin boys to several salons for kids and they have all done a horrible job on my one son's hair which has several colics. we see ron at sargent majors barber shop @ prairie and 182nd. he even cut my daughters hair and it was adorable. a big plus is a haircut is only $12. when you have several kids it really adds up. hope this helps. tricia

We take our 2 year old son to John at John's Hairstyling in Wilmington. My 6 year old nephew has been going to him for years. He does a really great job at cutting hair on a little boy that moves around a lot. We just get a simple boy's cut, though. It's nothing fancy. John's shop is really old school, so you need to make an appointment and be ready to pay by cash or check. And, the haircut only costs $10. You do need to be sure that you are on-time, though, because his schedule can be pretty tight. He usually squeezes us in tightly between two other appointments.

Somebody else replied about a place in PV. I think this is it. It looks great, but it's pricey. $22 for a haircut, but they may be able to do fancier styles for kids. They even have packages where you can broadcast the video of your baby's first haircut to your relatives on the Internet. Here's the info:

First Cuts for Kids
550 Deep Valley Dr

I hope it all works out well for you!
