Hair Salon Catering to Kids

I am looking for a hair salon that specializes in cutting kids' hair. We have decided to take our 20-month-old daughter for her first haircut and, knowing her personality, this will be a bit of a challenge I suspect.

In my initial searches, I have found businesses in South Broward County that cater to children, but I live in Deerfield Beach. Any suggestions on salons or just specific hairdressers who work well with the little ones in North Broward or Southern Palm Beach counties?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the suggestions. We decided to take her to Sweet & Sassy and they did a nice job considering my daughter does not like her hair brushed much less sprayed with water and having scissors taken to it. I still can't believe they actually got her bangs straight, which is all I really wanted! Maybe when she gets older she'll appreciate the pampering.

I took my daughter to sweet and sassy, on 441 just N. of Hillsboro. She is a wiggle worm and she managed to get the most beautiful haircut by M.. She was 22 months when she got her haicut.

It's not close but if you could find a Lollypop Kids near you, they are wonderful. For their first haircut, they give a hair cut, a lock of hair, a certificate and an 8 X 10 photo all for $20.00. It's in West Davie by Muvico. It is well worth the ride. I took a friend of mine there the other day. It's like Disney or Universal studio's for hair cuts.

If you want to know more, let me know.

I am a 41 year old first time mom. Trying for a second one.

Congrats.

There are two I know of:

Cowlicks kids salon -- The shoppes of Boca Greens, 19635 N State Road 7, Boca Raton ###-###-####

Can't remember the name of the other one in the new shopping center just north of Hillsboro Blvd. on the west side of State Road 7 (441). This one caters more to little girls.

Just Kids hairstyling on Wiles Road in Coral Springs isn't too far....just take 441 to Wiles and go west a couple miles. The guy there is from NY and he does a fast but decent job....they've got all sorts of stuff to distract the kids from toys to big TV's. And it specializes in kids, so they can handle a 20 month old! I took my son there when he was a toddler. (I hope he's still in business!)

Hi S.

How long is your daughters hair? My daughter is 3 and the only hair I have cut is her bangs, and I did that my self. Her bangs curl up a little so it doesn't have to be really even. Everything else has not been cut. I did the same for my oldest daughter as well. My questions is does she really need a hair cut at this time if she is not going to co-operate. There is a franchise called Cartoon Cuts they have tv's and videos for your kids to watch. My son loved going there. See if there is one out your way.

Hope that helps

C. :)

Hi, S.!

My mom sent me your request...I was not a prior member of Mamasource. Anyway, I have been taking my 5 year old to Sweet and Sassy in Parkland. They have gotten her to do what other hairdressers could not! For your little one, they wouldn't bother her with a shampoo...just a spritz to wet it down, and then a cute style. My little girl recently "went all the way" and got the Posh Spice haircut...her hair was all the way to her waist and a battle to brush and style into a braid every day to keep the tangles at bay. The little ones also get a lollipop (really cool ones with long straw stix) and a glitter star on their cheek. The salon also has a retail area, and I have picked up many cute items for my daughter.

Sweet and Sassy is located just north of Hillsboro, on the west side of 441 (Riverstone Shoppes). Check out their website (www.sweetandsassy.com). The phone number is 954-757-1FUN. I believe the "Sweet Cut" for girls 4 and under is $14.99.

Good Luck!

Sweet and Sassy is perfect for a little girl getting her first cut. It's located at the nortwest corner of Hillsboro and 441. Joanne, who is a former preschool teacher, has been cutting my daughter's hair for two years. She is kind and patient. They make a big deal there about the first haircut. They take a picture and give the child a certificate. Good Luck!

Sweet and Sassy is not far from you. It is on State Road 7 just north of Hillsboro. They charge $20 for a first haircut and give a certificate, a lock of hair and I think a keepsake box of it.

I just gor my sons 1st haircut right around the same age. I took him to my dads stylist because they have the same hair and she always gives my dad and brother good cuts. Her name is Kim at incognito in Coral Springs. She doesn't charge for a first cut. But more importantly she listens to whet you say. She gave my son exactly what I wanted, and we will be using her in the future. She just moved to incognito, so on the off chance there's more than 1 Kim ask for the one who just came back. Piece of advice, if you have a portable DVD player I'd bring it, if your munchkin likes tv at all. I wish I had brought my sons. I gave him a lollipop, like his 3rd one ever, and he still got really antsy towards the end.
