My daughter is almost 8 months old. She was born with a head full of hair!! She never lost any of it after birth, but know at almost 8 months I am starting to find hairs on her changing table, in her crib, in her hood, on her carseat, etc. It is just 2-3 hairs, and she doesn't seem to have any bald spots, but I am kind of worried. Should I be? My older daughter was also born with a bunch of hair, but NEVER lost ANY! I know that some babies do lose their hair when they are born with a lot but I thought that it happened in the first few months. Me and my sisters never had much hair, neither did most of my neices or nephews and the ones that did lost it within the first 3-4 months so I have not gotten much help from them! Has anyone elses baby experienced hair loss at this age or older or should I visit with her doctor?

What can I do next?

I don't have a specific timeline for when this happened, but I was born with black hair. It all fell out and grew in strawberry blond sometime before I was 2, then turned brown before kindergarten. I wouldn't worry if I were you, but I'd ask about it at her next appointment.

My son was born with a full head of hair (thank you heartburn) as well. He never really seemed to lose it until he was older 7-9 months. It was dark brown when he was born, but after it started thinning it came back blond and really thick. Because of the color change it was hard to tell it was coming back in at first. He never really looked liked he lost his first hair, it just thinned out and thickened back up.

Perfectly normal so don't worry , most babies lose some hair and then there are the very few (like yours) who lose none at all. It's caused by the friction of the hair rubbing against different materials all the time , you willprobably notice soon that she will get a little bald patch at the back of her head , once she is sitting up most of the time and becomes more mobile so that she is not always led down it will grow back.

Hope this helps

Totally normal. A lot of kids lose their hair when they are older and then new comes in. all of my kids were different too.

No worries!

Hi--
Everybody loses hair...that's why we have to clean out our hairbrushes :-) If it were more then you might have a reason for concern, but just a few hairs is totally normal.

You're getting the same response all over! :)

Hair loss is normal. All through our lives, we go through periods of hair loss. Babies especially seem to go through several. Like the other moms, my daughter had a full head of beautiful black hair. Then, she started losing it, and it's coming back a light brown and curly! Though it did take awhile for it to grow back. Every baby is different.
