Hair - Know Any *Safe* Ways to Make It Grow Faster?
So my daughter gave herself a haircut - her beautiful, shoulder-length hair - her bangs had finally gotten as long as the rest of her hair and now her bangs area (goes about 2 inches back from her forehead and about 2-3 inches across her forehead) is now between 1/4 inch and 1 inch long. Oh and she has a horrible cowlick there so it sticks straight UP! Of course we were going to do her 3 year old pictures THAT NIGHT. UGH. For now we invested in some wide elastic headbands which I guess we'll use for her (rescheduled) pictures BUT she's also supposed to be in her Uncle's wedding in 4 months and I am so sad about the sad state of her hair now! So - I don't want any pity or "they do that" or "it's just hair, it'll grow" or "why did she have scissors in the first place" - what I want is real advice - do you know any ways to help her hair grow faster? Obviously I'm not going to give her any pills or anything, but, for instance - is there a certain shampoo or certain nutrients that help? her hair does grow fairly quickly, but it breaks my heart every time I look at her, or even a "before" picture - and I want her to have nice hair for her Uncle's wedding since there will be so many pictures taken - i don't want this to be all that people remember when they see her, I want her to be adorably cute again!
Thanks in advance for your wonderful advice - (UPDATED) PLEASE keep your critical thoughts to yourself- I've heard it all and I'm not the bad parent you ("BUG") may think - I don't want her uncle's wedding to be full of people commenting on her hair - because SHE is upset by what she did (because she saw her reflection and got upset - BEFORE we knew what she'd done!) and doesn't like people mentioning it. I want her to be able to enjoy the wedding and have positive interactions with everyone there - I don't want the focus to be on her hair.
So What Happened?™
Well, its been about 6 weeks now and it's worse than watching grass grow! She has always been a healthy eater and does take multivitamins. I mentioned the shampoo to a few people and was surprised by how many knew of it or used it! So we're trying that too now... She's still VERY upset whenever someone mentions it or asks about it, so she wears the inch wide cloth headbands whenever we go out, we got some fairly cute ones, so she's ok with them right now. I'm not willing to cut her short enough to "match" the length she did, so we're just letting it grow out until closer to the wedding, then we'll do some sort of chin length cut with layers around the face that will hopefully blend in what she did... I'm just afraid they won't even be "bangs-length" even then! Its just wait and see now!

I don't know of any way to make it grow faster, but have you thought about taking her a professional hair cutters and seeing what cute hair cuts they could do that might help hide the cut hair. Theirs lots a super cute little girls hair styles that are shorter. Their's a little girls that lives in my neighborhood that has the cuties short layered hair cut. See what you can find. 8-)

Try Mane n Tail.. yes.. it was originally for horses, but safe for people to use it too. :) They sell it at Walmart in the shampoo aisle.

LOL!! I know it's not funny right now, but it will be later. My daughter cut her own hair from one side of her forehead to the back of her head 1/2 inch short THE DAY BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. NOW it's funny... at the time, I think every person at the hair cutting place heard me lecturing.
Just wanted to let you know you're not alone, sorry I have nothing helpful :)

OMG...How little people know about hair...
No vitamis(the doses are huge for a child) or horse shampoo(!!!) will not make hair to grow faster.Do not use any of this stuff on your little girl-she is 3!!!.Hair extentions...on a 3 years old!O boy... Good luck with that...And how it exactly going to help?
Just let her be,she'll learn her lesson...It's hair,it will grow back-may be not as fast as you'd like, but it will.

You are putting WAY too much stress on how your 3 year old looks. She is young, not a care in the world, doesn't realize yet that when she grows people will so harshly judge on how she looks. This is what you want to teach her now? Come on. She's a kid. Let her be one and let it go. Use this to teach her a GOOD lesson, on how no matter what she is adorable and lovely. It's a much better, healthy, and valuable lesson then, "I don't want this to be all that people remember when they see her, I want her to be adorably cute again!"
P.S.
I NEVER said you were a bad parent. I don't think that, I don't even know you. I simply said if YOU focus on it too much, SHE will focus on it too much. That hardly equals a bad parent and I never eluded to that. You took that away from what I said, but I never said that.

Oh my stars!!!!!!! I am so sorry for you that this happened....My kid sister did the same thing and my Mom was devestated...I am sorry but I am not laughing at you but with you...Oh geez...Well I can say try not to get any more cut because it can look worse...Definitely use the headbands and have close-up shots of her face....Some portrait studies of different angles so it won't focus on her hair....Definitely have her hair done by a professional for the wedding...i'll bet it will look a lot better in 4 months

I just had to comment because when I was a child, I got tired of my bangs and cut them off at the scalp, too. Isn't that the way you get rid of them? LOL. I remember walking around with my hand on my forehead for a day, pretending that I had a headache so my mom wouldn't see what I'd done! Anyway, I take Biotin for hair growth and it really does work. Now, I don't know about a 3-year-old taking it, you'd definitely have to look into that. But it's in the supplement section of a drugstore. Good luck -- this, too, shall pass :)

Vitamins and fruits/veggies along with a healthy diet aids in hair/nail growth. Please know I feel your frustration. My daughter had pig tails in and cut her hair UNDERNEATH the holder. UGH! In 4 month's time she will have enough hair that something can be done with it and she will be adorable nonetheless. Trust me. I've been there and this is NOT the end of the world. You DO have time for enough hair growth.
