I have problems with iron deficient anemia and when ever i become anemic my hair starts to fall out so you may want to consider having a blood test done.

J.,

I would talk to your cosmotologist and if that doesn't help, ask your doctor. I think there are a lot of things that can cause this but I would ask. I have fine, thin hair and a shampoo that I have been using that promotes growth (length) is Mane & Tail. I bought it for my horse and started using it myself. They have a lot of damage control products under the same name. Heat can break hair and you need to protect it if you are out in the sun alot, use a lot of curlers/irons, etc. I can tell a difference after using the shampoo/conditioner/and the protectat for heat. Hope it works, but I would check with someone if it doesn't. Good Luck and God bless. S.

I'm having the same problem right now as well! I know your hair starts to fall out around 4mo or so after you have your child, but my son is 15mo! I'd think it'd stop by now?! I really don't have any advice to offer, except try some of these suggestions, as I'm going to now as well! Just wanted to let you know, you're not alone!! = ) Good Luck!

Hello,

Having problems with your hair. I'm an Cosmetologist/ stay home mom with 2. It all depends how much hair are you losing, if it's a big problem. Or it can be Medication that you are one. The best Hair replacement shampoo is Nioxin. And I would advice you to see a Dr..
That's all.

Sincerely,

S.

Hi J.,

If you are having problems with hair loss and thinning, I would contact The Hair Club of Kansas City ####-###-####. I have 3 friends who went there and swear by this scalp therapy treatment they purchased. They also told me they have a wonderful system for severe hair loss. I was told everything can get pricey but they have all had such remarkable results that every penny was worth it. Let's face it, it's our hair and mine means the world to me. From all of the good stuff I have heard, I would contact them. Good luck! JL

The average hair loss is 50-100 hairs per day. Believe it or not, that's a lot! Anything more than that you may have a problem.

Hello J.,

I am a hairstylist, and a new Mom as well. I have seen this happen to many women. First it could be due to your hormones. Then there are medications, such as thyroid and blood pressure medicine that can make your hair fall out until the situation is remedied. The last thing could be stress, it is a huge factor to hair falling out. If it is none of these things, then a doctor's visit would be worth it in my opinion.

I would suggest you use a product called Nioxin, I reccomend it to all clients w/ thinning issues or similar issues to yours. It comes in a 5 step system. Skip getting the whole she-bang....get the cleanser (shampoo) and the scalp-thearapy(conditioner) If your hair is highlighted or colored use the one specific for color treated/chemically treated hair. If not use the other. It will stimulate your hair you have to be healthy and keep it looking full. You can use it every day.....If you have anymore questions, please don't hesitate to write me.

Good Luck,
S.

Hi J.,

My hair started shedding like crazy and when I went to the doctor they told me because I had a thyroid problem. Not saying that is the case with you but sometimes it happens after you have a child. Just a thought..

Have you gone through a major stress lately? I remember two times when my hair fell out like crazy and I was really worried. Once was after my third pregnancy, (I had them right in a row, so my hormone levels & nutrition were pretty high until after that), the second was after a friend & her kids moved in with us while she was going through a divorce....major stresser! I'd say if you have recently not been taking care of yourself nutritionally, that could be a problem, or if you've recently experienced a lot of stress, that could be it, too. Also, check your shampoos. I recently heard something about an ingredient called DEA that is in shampoos that can cause your hair to fall out. That could be bologna though, but thought I'd pass that on.
I can remember my hairdresser recommending Vitamin K (I think), but you can't buy it over the counter, it has to be prescribed, but I think you're probably just having hormone or stress issues and you just need to take good care of yourself. :)

Hope this helps!
S.

Hey J.. I work for a dermatologist - (skin, hair and nails) we see people for hairloss all the time, it can be really hard to treat. A few things you should consider are: Is the hair breaking off or is it coming out at the root? Are you noticing that you hair is thinning or are you just shedding alot but not losing volume? Hormonal imbalances, thyroid disorders and stress are a few things that can contribute to hairloss. You should consider seeing someone for a blood work up if things aren't improving on their own. I haven't heard of an over the counter shampoo that cures hairloss, sorry. But good luck and hope I helped.

Have your thyroid checked. I have the same problem, and I have hypo-thyroidism. Hair falling out is one of the symptoms. Fatigue and trouble losing weight are also some symptoms of hypo-thyroidism. I would have this checked out. I know that when I was pregnant w/ my daughter's they monitored me closely to make sure it didn't get out of control b/c it would cause me to loose the baby. Hope this helps.

Hello J.,
My mother in law has this same problem, but hers never stopped. At one time she went to a health store and got a vitamin supplement that helps with your hair from not falling out. I believe it was oxygen pills? But that just sounds weird. I know that it helped her quite a bit. It isn't going to hurt to ask someone there.
Also I would talk to your hair dresser. Mine told me that volumizing shampoo and conditioner are the worst things that you could ever use on your hair they strip your hair and dry it out so much that it can't stay healthy. She said moisturizing is the best.
I have also heard that we shed every 7 years, don't know if that is true or not, but I do notice a change in how much hair falls out every few years.
Good luck,
Michelle

Hey J.! Yea it is kind of frustrating when your hair will not stop falling out!! Been there, done that. My daughter will be three in July and I promise, it will stop. However, I have my own business with Arbonne International and their shampoo is specifically made help make your hair soft, shiny and healthy. All of my clients who are using the shampoo have said that they have noticed that their hair is not falling out as much. Now that does not mean that it completing stopped all at once, but they said that they noticed a significant change in the amount of hair that has stopped coming out. Arbonne also has a Scalp rejuvinating cream. You put it on your scalp and rub in it and let it sit for a couple of minutes. The pores in your scal get glogged up by all of the soap scum that is left behing by all of the other store brand shampoos. You know that soap scum that is on your shower walls and the sides of your bath tubs, well that is what is in your scalp!! Gross huh, anyway, this scalp cream takes off that soap scum and allows the hair that is not able to grow through that scum to grow!! Arbonne does not clam that it "grows hair," it just allows the hair that is not growing, to grow. I hope that made sense. But I would love to tell you more about these products if you are interested. My email is ____@____.com or you can call me at ###-###-####. If not, just give it sometime and I promise, it will eventually stop falling out. Like I said my daughter will be three in July and it fell out alot until I got on Arbonne. Anyway, I hope this helped and don't hesitate to email or call. Hope to hear from you soon. Take care and God bless. :)

Hi J.... I am sorry to hear that you lost two babies prior to Jessica. However, I am happy to hear you have a baby now who is the love of your life!!

As far as the hair falling out. Mine fell out like mad after I had my son... I was in competition with my Golden Retriever, or so it seemed... it was awful.

Fortunately, my hormones began to balance again... and then I got pregnant again... so my hair doesnt shed right now...

but I would say give it some time.... it is probably just the hormones re-adjusting from having a baby a year ago. They are on their on clock, or so it seems.
