Well, I am being forced into telling family what I want for Christmas, and one item that I need to update & upgrade is my hair dryer. I have an old, compact, foldable one that I bought probably 10 years ago. I am normally a "use it till it breaks" type of person, but I know the one I currently have is killing my hair. I am looking for a modestly priced hair dryer that does as minimal damage possible.

If you have one that you love/recommend, can you please share all the pertinent info?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have an Ion hair dryer that I got 8-9 years ago at Ulta. I love it because it dryes my hair fast without damaging it. I paid about $20.00 for it. As I write this, I'm wondering how much longer it will work....yikes I should follow this post for a recommendation, just in case. :-)

Any hair dryer with ION technology will instantly be an upgrade for your hair, damage wise. These supposedly don't fry your hair.

If money isn't an obstacle, I'd ask for a salon quality stand dryer for home use. You don't get tired arms and get done in half the time. If you do a roller set the results are amazing...just like going to the salon.

Wow...ten years for a hair dryer is really good. Unfortunately I don't think they're made as well now. Mine seem to last sometimes even one year but now that I'm not drying my hair as much...my conair has lasted 2.

My favorite is babyliss, but it's a professional one I got at a beauty supply store. But they truly do work better and faster! I think it was around $80.
