Hair Color - Kansas City,MO

I am coloring my hair, again, and just needed one piece of advice. I know you aren't supposed to wash your hair first, but what about having product in your hair? Last night I fixed my hair when we went out and used just a teeny drop of frizz ease before I used the flat iron on it. Should I just wash my hair tonight and color it tomorrow or could I go ahead and color it tonighr? What would u do?

What can I do next?

I'd go ahead and color it

that should be fine, I've done it both ways with similar results both times.

I'm a hair stylist. Wash your hair, that's a myth that it has to be unwashed. You shouldn't wash your hair before permanent straighteners, a fancy updo or deep conditioning treatment prior to coloring but that is it.

i box-color my own hair all the time and i'm sure i've done it a lot with product in it from the day before or even that day. so far, no problems! good luck!

I think they create all these rules so if you mess it up, you can't go after the company because inevitably, you've done at least ONE thing that's against their "rules" of coloring. My mom is a hairstylist, and I've learned plenty about hair, and have done plenty TO my hair...all with the same result.

You don't need to wash it just brush it out good. When your hair is dirty itholds the color better. Something about the oils. Good luck!
