I go to this great hair dresser who uses this hair bleach that doesn't have a strong smell at all. Call around but if you live in Rochester, NY I'll give you the name of my hairdesser. He's amazing.

Hair was one of my professions. We would suggest highlighting with the foils because the dye or bleach would not be applied on the scalp. Hope this was helpful, Good Luck! L.

I would check with your doctor. Mine said it was fine, but I only do a single process treatment.

When I was pregnany I found out that it is not safe. Any chemical that penetrate hand, skin etc. or produces fumes, ie. hair coloring, nail salons etc put your unborn baby at risk. You will look beautiful as God intended for you to be natural:. Also always wear thick latex gloves when house cleaning and a well ventalated area.
Well Wishes to you.

Hi Y., From what i've been told Highlighting is safer than dying all of your hair. dying all of your hair is absorbed through the scalp, where as highighting is not. Congradulations on your marriage and new baby! God Bless you!!

I was a hair dresser for 10 years and worked all the way up to my last week before I had my daughter-exposed to all of the chemicals and everything and even highlighted my own hair. My daughter is an above average student.

Take care of what you want and need to do for yourself for your big day. The baby will be fine. People filled me with all kinds of horror stories about things and I'm so glad I didn't listen to them.

Best wishes for you!

hi! i'm a hairstylist and it's fine to color your hair, as long as it's in a well ventilated space. the college of ob-gyn did a study on this last year and found it to be un-linked that hair color caused any sort of birth defect. so it's okay to get color.

You might want to stay away from bleach, peroxide or harsh chemicals. You never know what new sensitivities you might develop during pregnancy.Try a Henna They come in lots of fun shades. Your hair get great color and with no chemical damage it will be shiny and soft.

Not really.
It's not safe to color your hair when you're pregnant--especially if it's with bleach.

Bleach is a serious toxic chemical that shouldn't be used at all. Peroxide is safer.

no no no. full color is not safe if you are pregnant. i think that was the first time in many many years i say my natural hair color. highlights are ok, but full color gets into the folicals and can get to the baby. if you do some looking there are products that are wash out color, and should be just fine for a day or so.

I would check with your doctor just to be safe, but I highlighted my hair when I was pregnant. I wasked my ob/gyn and she said it was fine. She actually encouraged me because she said it's important to feel good while you're pregnant and what better way than to make yourself look pretyy.

I am a hairdresser and colored peoples hair plus my own and have 3 healthy baby boys. It is okay if you are in a well ventilated area. The problem with color vs. bleach highlights is sometime the color will grab a funny undertone...or you could end up with "hot" roots. Bleach will not do that. So I would stick to anything in foils to play it safe. Good luck
P.S stay away from the henna. Your hair will fall off if you try to bleach over any hair that ever had henna on it!

I died my hair my whole pregnancy and was fine. My sister is a chemist and she said that the body barely takes in any of the chemicals. The one thing you have to worry about is breathing them in. Make sure you are in a well ventelated area. Good luck with your wedding!

i'm not quite sure about the bleach..you should really speak with your dr. about this. when i was pregnant my dr. had noticed my roots coming in pretty bad and told me that in his opinion, it was ok if i had wanted to do my hair again once i was in my 2nd trimester IF i could manage to have it done in a WELL ventilated area, though i didn't touch my hair until she was about 2 months old when i stopped pumping. but he said that the chemicals weren't that bad to the body, and in turn to the baby as far as being on your head...it's the fumes that are dangerous, whether just to us, or to the baby too. he said that the major problem with dying though, is that with all the hormonal changes, SOME women wind up having a completely different color come out then they normally do, even if it's the exact same brand and color as normal. he didn't mention anything about bleaching, just the dyes so i'm really not sure if he meant all aspects of coloring the hair or not. just double check with your dr. just because mine said it was ok, doesn't mean that yours will...every dr. has some things they don't agree on for safety with the baby. congratulations on the baby, and the marriage. i'm sure everything will turn out to be wonderful. best wishes.

Do not color your hair!!! Especially with bleach. From what I understand, any chemicals you use for hair coloring can have an affect on the baby's development. I wouldn't take any chances. Congrats on your wedding though. :)

Dying your hair during pregnancy is safe. You should confirm with your OB/GYN just to be sure and for extra precaution, I'd wait until after the 1st trimester is over. GL!

As long as the salon is well ventelated and the bleach/color doesn't touch your scalp (which is the case when highlighted with foils) you should be fine:-) I asked my Dr and she said it was ok and I talked to my hairstylest so he knew my concerns before my appt. Congrats on the baby and wedding!!!!

Y., it is NEVER safe to use bleach under any circumstances. I know we have been socialized to think bleach stands for clean but it is one of the most dangerous chemicals ever allowed for household use. Any chemical you put on your hair or skin has a potential to cross the blood brain barrier of your unborn baby. Just because others express no problems doesn't mean it's worth the risk. Bask in the beauty of your body as it changes through out your pregnancies and leave the chemicals off your body and away from your body. S. RN

I wouldn't dye my hair if I were pregnant. And certainly not use bleach. Maybe Hydrogen Peroxide would be safer. There are natural hair dyes you can purchase at an Organic Body Shoppe, "Whole Foods Body" or some other store which sells only natural hair dyes without ammonia, and other harmful chemicals that could harm you and the baby. Now that I've found natural hair dyes, I would go back to using the commercial or salon hair dyes.
