Those "hail to the V" commercials make me cringe.

Summer's Eve is a douche. Having been off work with pneumonia, I just saw Dr. Oz talking about this subject on television. His exact words were, "The vagina is a self-cleaning oven".

Douches are not necessary, nor are they good for you.
I know women who don't feel clean without using them, but I personally have never felt the need.

Just my opinion.

Douche is AWFUL for your nether regions. There isn't an OB out there that won't caution against those. As far as wipes and stuff, to each their own. I think the more things like fragrances and chemicals you put down there, the more likelihood for the balance getting thrown off. It's really not supposed to have an odor down there. (Not a bad one, anyway.) I'd think if there are odors that actually need covering to the outside world, there is a problem.

LOL I love this question! The only place I've ever seen this is in my grandmother's bathroom. I guess you get to a certain age and just leave all your feminine hygiene products out for the world to see.

Anyway...I've (thankfully) never found myself in a position to use this. Do you remember the commercials for FDS (Feminine Deodorant Spray)? I hope I never have anything going on down there that's so smelly a simple shower wouldn't do the trick. Hardly seems like a mass-market item, nor something your discuss with other women in your life while walking down a beach, which is what the commercials always show.

Thanks for making me laugh!

ETA: @MamaBird I totally agree - funniest commercials ever!

They make all kinds of scented feminine products. Most notable for their douche products. Their commercials are hilarious. Women running through fields of flowers, etc. LOL

Summer's Eve brand has several products to help you feel fresh. They have a douche, wet wipes (which I personally love) and other things like that. You have got to keep the V fresh and lets just face facts sometimes it could use a little sprucing. This brands line of products can help you spruce it up a bit.

I think it's one of those products used in the olden days. I have never known anyone that used a douche. The vagina cleans itself and plain soap and water will do the trick unless you have something medical going on. Who would want their v to smell like flowers anyway?

Good grief, I hate that commercial. Douching has been out for so long I can't believe they still make them. I think they may be good in some cases, when prescribed by a doc for some reason. But otherwise they just mess with your natural bacteria. I've never used it, but I guess it's like a "jet wash" for your vagina.

Nikki G, gay men? Really? Interesting.

I don't know anyone that uses a douche either. Back in the day I heard they can actually flush bacteria UP into you and it could CAUSE infections, so no thanks! Good luck!

You know, I don't know a single woman who uses douche, but I do know gay men who do. So maybe that's why they are still on the shelf?

I'm 43 and never used it either, and in all honesty, I don't know many ladies who do/have. LOL
But Kimberly F is accurate in her explanation of what it is.

My GYN said not to use them as well. However, she did say the wipes and wash were ok. They make individually wrapped wipes and sensitive formula unscented wash...both of these are nice around that time of the month if you feel a little icky wanna freshen up...or just for everyday use without smelling like a flower shop "down there"

It's a douche. Cleans the insides of the vajayjay. Another product that is a personal choice. Many reports came out saying they clean yes, but they also destroy healthy bacteria. Some women do well with them and some don't, depending on your chemistry. And yes, your GYN will give you the facts about them and caution you, as with everything else. I used them when I was younger, once in a while and I was fine. The wipes are great. So long as you don't douche weekly, only once in a while a girl should be fine.
