Had an Accident at School

My daughter had an accident at school (kindergarten started last week) and the teacher told me that "this hasn't happened in a LOOOONG TIME" and "gosh it was just everywhere".

She rarely has accidents and when I asked her she said that she just forgot. The teacher really made me feel uncomfortable by the way she explained this (no other kids were around). Not sure what to think of this or if I am over thinking her comments.

What can I do next?

Don't sweat it at all T.. It happens quite a bit...just move on and don't dwell on it or you'll find yourself building resentments towards the teacher that could last all year or increase with the slightest comment or action on her part. Some people are just overly dramatic in the way they describe events, it's probably just part of her personality...

Totally see where you're coming from. I think we're all sensitive when it comes to our kids. I don't have experience with this, but it's possible it's her first accident (or it's been a while), and it was the first day of school for everyone so she may have been a little stressed as well.

(It can be amazing the amount of pee inside such small people! LOL)

She may have been trying to diffuse a stressful (for you and your daughter) situation by making an odd joke. I agree with the other moms, try not to hold resentment. Just pack an extra pair of clothes with your daugter for awhile, just in case. Your daughter probably got overly excited playing, or maybe a little stressed b/c of new environment. I remember having an accident at school at this age, and I was mortified. So, make sure you give her some extra comfort and love. If it continues to happen, talk to her to see if she is stressed about something. Also, maybe ask teacher to be a little bit proactive in reminding her to go.

Maybe it just hasn't happened to that teacher. I would probably feel a little uncomfortable if I felt like the teacher was talking down to me. Long term, I'd let it go.

As a teacher, I'd much rather that type of accident than the numerous stomach virus ones I've had to deal with in my class.

Your daughter will probably remember to go the next time. Please just let your daughter know that all is ok and accidents do happen, although embarrassing.
