Hi moms! My husband is looking into getting a gym membership at LA Fitness near his work, and they're offering him a deal of $50 for the enrollment fee, then $30 a month after that. It sounds pretty good to me, but I wanted to check around and see if anyone else is getting a better deal there are somewhere else. It can't hurt to ask right? Thanks!

What can I do next?

That is a really good deal! You usually cannot find them for under $40 a month now a days.

I joined LA Fitness in Keller and convinced them to waive the initiation fee. I pay the $30 per month, so that's pretty typical. If he tries hard enough I bet her can get them to waive the $50 fee.

We just joined LA fitness and it is $60 a month for my husband and we had to pay $100 enrollment fee, plus first and last months monthly fees, plus tax. So, our first payment was around $230. That kind of hurt but from now on it will be 60 a month.

Hey J. - not sure where your husband works, but... Health Clubs of America (Round Grove Rd & 121 in Lewisville) offers a $59 enrollment and $10/month no contract; no commitment. Also, the Health and Athletic Club at Parker Square offers pretty good rates too, something like $19/month with an enrollment fee, not sure of the price. The monthly dues go up about $10/mo for spouse. In the event that you don't want a contract, they have the option for month to month as well. Hope that helps.

It's not a bad deal, but do keep looking. Buy your membership at the end of the month from a greedy salesman. It's a commission job, and sometimes is cut throat. Go ahead and just ask him - what gets you the most commission? bottle of vitamins? Great - I'll buy a bottle if you'll waive the enrollment fee, etc...you just may get it! Create a win-win for both of you by being honest about what the salesman will make off you.

and btw - I used to have a no enrollment, no initiation, $25 a month to all Sport clubs with 24 Hour Fitness. Now THAT's a great deal - and you can still get it if you're lucky and at the right place right time. Good luck!

That's a pretty good deal that would be hard to beat. Just make sure the gym has everything he wants and may want in the future as I am guessing there will be a lengthly contract attached. If he plans on doing personal training or taking classes or anything like that, be sure those prices aren't jacked up.
