Gunky Glasses
I have a newer Maytag dishwasher. My glasses are gunky. I have tried different soaps, had a water softner installed, even poured vinegar in washer. Threw my wine glasses away and bought new. Of course, my other dishes are gunky as well. What can I do?

I think there were a few people who said Lemi Shine from Walmart, it works great! I don't even use Jet Dry in my dishwasher with that stuff. We have very hard water and it makes a huge difference. We usually mix it with the regular detergent 1/2 and 1/2.

I remember on another message board that I read that this problem could be caused by using too much soap. You don't need to fill the dispensers all the way. Filling 1/2 way is sufficient.

Jet Dry makes a Dishwasher Cleaner product. It helps ours (we don't have a water softener) keep that gunk from building up in the dishwasher and then transferring to the dishes. Might try one!

We don't have a water softner and our glasses and all our dishes always had a powdery film on them and it was so gross. I felt like I had to rewash them by hand. So someone told me about a product I bought at walmart it's called Limon shine and yes its spelled Limon. It works great, although sometimes if you use to much your stuff tastes a little lemony!! I hope that helps.

I love my Shaklee automatic dish washing detergent. been using it for 20 yrs. it's non-toxic too -- no toxic fumes when the dishwasher is running and no toxic residue on my glasses. this will take you to my page on kitchen products. http://tinyurl.com/mufqbf

We had the same problem and we bought liquid Cascade Complete with Bleach. By the 2nd wash, they looked brand new.

You might be using too much soap.....cut it down and try that, if that doesn't work, I have some great dishwasher soap that is eco friendly, and it works and smells great........www.greenteamdream.com - we carry things you use everyday, just switch stores!
Good luck, I went through the same thing until I switched.

I have exactly the same problem...newer Maytag dishwasher which I love...but it looks like a film on all my glasses. We also have a water conditioner. I didn't try the vinegar...but since it didn't work for you...I don't have high hopes.

I would check the temperature of the water - is it getting hot enough? Also, is there a filter in the dishwasher that is clogged and not cleaning out the water impurities enough, or at the bottom, is there a clog in the drain system that is allowing leftover gunk to be re-distributed onto your dishes? If it is under warranty, I would call in a service order.
