I am looking for your favorite ground turkey recipe (if from a website, you can direct me =).

We eat so much ground turkey in place of beef - I make a mean turkey burger, but I am getting bored with my recipes. I plan to look on recipes.com as well, but I wanted to hear from you mamas first.

What is your favorite ground turkey recipe?

I love to make meatloaf with it. I dont have a real recipe, I just use mccormack meatloaf seasoning, a sleeve of crushed saltines, a beaten egg, some tomato sauce and ketchup, mix all together, then put in a loaf pan with a layer of ketchup on top and bake as long as it says on the seasoning packet. Everyone loves it, I make it when we have guests over.

Lasagna works great with ground turkey.
Did not care for turkey in my manwhich.
I also used it with my tacos. My tacos are different than almost everyone I know though. I brown the meat, with some diced potatoes and diced onion and of course garlic. Then add in refried beans and a can of diced tomatoes (with green chilis at our house). Then use your shell and whatever topping you normally use. Yummy! I want some now.

Turkey Taco burgers

Mix the meat, a package of Taco seasoning, and a cup of ground up Frito's
Broil the burgers (Usually about 3 minutes each side)
Cut Cream Cheese strips in about a fourth of an inch thick strips. Make an X over the burger, sprinkle with Paprika and stick it back in the over for a minute or two.

Really good and takes like 10-15 minutes to be done and ready to go!

Turkey Meatloaf! Even my husband will eat it and he prefers beef to turkey. My recipe is super simple, 1lb ground turkey, 1package of lipton dried onion soup mix, 1 egg, & ketchup to taste ( I like a lot both in and on top ) and bake at 375 for 45min. Sometimes I change it up a little and add a few strips of bacon ( pork or turkey) on top and add a little brown sugar to the ketchup I put on top.
I would try cooks.com for more recipes they have lots of good ones

Take your ground turkey and brown in the pan, once it is browned then add a can of French Onion Soup. Let the meat soak in the falvor of the soup to where it isnt so "soupy". Then take some Texas Toast and put the ground turkey on top and sprinkle some parmesean or any other kind of cheese the family likes and pop it in the oven at about 350-375 until the bread is fully cooked and cheese has melted on the top. Depending if you have pre-set the bread out sometimes I will let the bread cook and then add the cheese to the top and wait for that to melt. My kiddos LOVE this meal because its not your "typical" recipe and almost like eating pizza but it is AWESOME! Well at least for our family anyways-lol!

I will do anything that calls for ground beef with ground turkey!

Two favorites in our house are turkey tacos (I also buy the taco seasoning that is 40% less sodium) and turkey sloppy joes (we use a can of manwich)

Its not the right time of year, but turkey chili is yummy too.

I find that the ground turkey doesn't have as much flavor as ground beef so I usually just up my seasons when replacing. And because there is so much less fat I usually spray my pan with pam before cooking it so it doesn't stick.

I use ground turkey for everything! Taco's, meatball's, meatloaf, tater-tot casserole! Just use ground turkey in place of ground beef, the only reason why I started using ground turkey is because it's alot more healthier and my husband's cholesterol is alittle high. My neighbor claims that when she uses ground turkey that it comes out dry, I have never had that problem. When you make turkey burgers try adding some chunky salsa and alittle bit of bread crumbs so that it can hold some moisture.
Here's my Tater-Tot casserole recipe.....
1 1/2 lbs ground turkey
2 pkg's frozen tater-tot's
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
1 pkg frozen green beans (like the ones you would use in green bean casserole)
1 pkg, shreeded cheddar cheese (or whatever type you like)
1 small diced onion
1 8oz. pkg sliced mushrooms
In fry pan, pour 1 Tbsp canola oil and fry onion until translucent, add ground turkey and fry, add salt-pepper to taste and a pinch of poultry seasoning, fry until no longer pink, add cream of mushroom soup, mushrooms, and green beans, you just want it all to be heated throughly. Now in a casserole dish your going to take the frozen tater-tot's and align them in the bottomn of casserole dish, or just put a layer on the bottomn of dish, then take meat mixture and pour it ontop of tater-tot's, sprinkle the cheese ontop (however much cheese you would like) then your going to make another layer of tater-tot's ontop, so now you have a layer of tater-tot's on bottomn, then meat mixture in the middle then the cheese on top then the very top layer tater-tot's, cover and bake in a 350 degree oven for about an hour, I just keep checking up on it, you also want to cover it with foil before placing it in the oven. Then if you like you can sprinkle some more cheese on top at the end.
My family LOVE'S this recipe and it's actually better tasting with the turkey then with the ground beef, it's like eating a Thanksgiving dinner all in one! Hopefully your family will enjoy this recipe just as much as mine does!

Try recipesource.com. It's not very pretty, but it is a very awesome site that has recipes from all over the world. You can plug in your ingredient and you'll get more recipes than you'll know what to do with. You can also search by country, or category ie: appetizer or dessert. The only complaint I have is sometimes the recipes aren't complete so read through it all before using it. There are always multiples though so if one gets cut off there is always another to replace it.

Pretty much any recipe calling for ground beef can have ground turkey substituted. I've been doing it for years and don't even tell my hubby that it's not beef :-)

I am so excited to answer your question! One of my design clients years ago was Joan Diestel of Diestel Turkey. It is available at most healthy grocery stores nationwide like Whole Foods. I like it because it cooks so much better than cheaper turkey with tons of water and I know I'm not getting unwanted hormones in it.

I have come up with delicious recipes for turkey lasagna, turkey spaghetti, and turkey tacos. But I'll just give you my favorite...tacos. Yum.

1 lb. ground turkey
tortillas (white corn is delicious and less unhealthy than flour)
sharp cheddar cheese (or parmesan if you prefer less fat)
lime juice
chopped cilantro
low fat Greek plain yogurt (excellent replacement for sour cream)
chopped red onion
chopped tomatoes
rinsed kidney beans optional
spices see below

Brown the turkey with 2 T. olive oil about 10 mins. Add the following spices...they're much like the Lawry's Taco Seasoning but without all the bad stuff:

2 1/2 T. ground mild red chili powder
1-2 T. ground cumin
2 t. ground coriander
1 t. garlic powder
1/2 t. celery salt
fresh ground sea salt and pepper
about 1/4 C. water just to cover

Simmer for 20 mins. Heat tortillas in olive oil, blot and fill with taco fixings.

I just made a turkey meatloaf with asiago cheese gravy recipe from The Rachael Ray show website. The meatloaf was awesome, hubby did not care for the gravy. I will definitely make it again. I am trying to work ground turkey into more meals. I have also used ground turkey for spaghetti and lasagna.

I use turkey in all my recipes that call for beef. One night my daughter asked for meatloaf....alas I didn't have my normal ingredients. I quickly came up with a substitution...I just added a box of stove top stuffing with the seasonings, an egg, and a splash of milk. I don't use ketchup in ours because hubby is not a fan of ketchup. If you're ever in a bind give it a try my family loves it this way.

ground turkey with peas is one of our favorites.
2 T olive oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 t tumeric
1 t ground cumin
1 t ground coriander
1 t ground ginger
1 t garlic powder
dash of cinnamon
1 1/2 lbs ground turkey
1 long green chili pepper, seeded and chopped (i use the little pinkie finger sized ones)
1 medium tomato, chopped
1 cup tomato sauce
1 t salt
1/4 t black pepper
2 cups green peas, thawed if frozen
1/4 cup chopped cilantro

heat large heavy bottom pot. add oil and onion. stir until golden. add spices in order (okay, i admit i measure all mine into a cup and dump them in at once, seems to make no difference!) and stir for one minute. add turkey, continue stirring over medium high heat for 5 minutes. add chili pepper, tomato, tomato sauce, salt and pepper. stir. cover and simmer on very low heat 10 minutes. add 1/2 cup water if desired. mix in peas, cover and cook 10 minutes. garnish with cilantro.

We use ground turkey in any recipe calling for ground beef, we haven't eaten ground beef (unless in a restaurant) in years. My personal favorite? Sloppy Joes! So delicious, and with my homemade recipe, so cheap and quite quick and easy. We use ketchup, mustard, worchestershire sauce and a little sugar. Delish!
