Gross Pimple on Butt...

My dd is 2 1/2, she has never had issues with diaper rash or skin problems. A day or 2 ago I noticed she had aa small red bump on her butt cheek, today it is a nickel sized red bump, hard and painful to her when I pressed on it/ squeezed it slightly. Im assuming its a pimple of some sort but it has no 'head' or white center. My husband insists its a boil and is a sign of diabetes... but he can be very dramatic. She still wears diapers and the ones we have are getting a little small on her- maybe her skin is just irritated?? I put some neosporin on it to see if that would help. If it was on me Id sqeezeit till it popped and clean it out with astringent, but I dont think she'd like that... anyone have an idea what it could be or how to get rid of it?? If it gets worse I will take her to the doctor, but right now its not that serious. TIA

What can I do next?

I second what everyone said. Leave it alone and call the doctor ASAP. Sounds a lot like a steph infection and that can be dangerous.

You do NOT know if it's serious or not. If it is staff, it can turn into a flesh eating situation and grow 100 times the size in just a few hours. You could go to sleep thinking it's fine and wake up to a boy needing to be in the ICU. YOU tried to squeeze it and that puts your germs into a situation that's already filled with bacteria.

LEAVE IT ALONE and get to the doc. It's probably staff infection.

I will tell you of an experience that I just had 2 days ago, with my son, and what I thought was just a pimple. It was actually an "inside out" pimple, if I can put it that way. It was under his eye. It did look like a boil. I was like, hmmm, I wonder when that thing is gonna come to a head (sorry I know that was gross!!). Anway, after about 4 or 5 days, it never did. My son ended up going to the school nurse, who tried to squeeze it and hardly anything came out. His skin got really red that day, and a line of red was creeping up to his eyelid. She said maybe it's a bug bite you should take him to the doctor. So I did. The doctor said it was a good thing that I brought him in that day, since it was so big (quarter size by that day). He said if it would have popped on the inside of his face, the pus would have attached itself to the back of his eye, and he likely would be facing emergency eye surgery. The doctor actually gave him a numbing shot in the face, and squeezed it all out and then gave him an shot for infection and he is on antibiotics for 10 days. I'd call the doctor if I were you!!!

I agree, leave it and call the doc - daddy brought Staff home from the hospital when he took his brother for a procedure and he and our son had the effects - in kids (according to the doc) it is most likely to show up on the butt and the legs before any other location.

I agree with the others - probably staph infection. I had one on my butt also - extremely painful especially because I work in an office and sit most of the day! After 3 days, I finally had to take 2 days off - just could not sit all day anymore!

I didn't go to the doctor - just squeezed the hell out of it for days and it finally went away. It took several weeks and was very painful.

My nephew got one on his scrotum (ouch!). He was hospitalized for almost a week!

Take her to the doc ASAP. And tell your hubby it's more than likely nowhere near related to diabetes!

Get it checked out by her Pedi. Pimples don't get that big.

leave it alone - DR first thing in morning, or an urgent care type clinic tongiht - prob need to get some oral antibiotics in her to be on the safe side, could be a run of the mill staph infection, could be the very dangerous MRSA - these are more dangerous oftentimes b/c people "wait". good luck!
