My kindergarten daughter has a lot of greenish yellow snot coming from her nose. No fever but a cough that actually was worse a couple of days ago before the snot turned green. Do I keep her home from school or let her go?

What can I do next?

Usually when the mucous turns green, it can indicate an infection. She may have a sinus infection. I would contact her pediatrician to see if they want to put her on an antibiotic. I don't think it would be contagious to keep her home from school unless she feels really sick.

My kids in daycare all day and this is nothing new to us...our rule is "unless there is a fever..she stays'...she probably got the cold from school..so its going around anyway...all the kids have been exposed. If she sounds really bad (lots of coughing, trouble going to sleep, or fever) then call the doc. Otherwise, its just a simple cold

She might not be contagious, but green snot is usually a sign of an infection. Take her to the doctor to see if she needs antibiotics.

I would call the Dr. If she feels ok she can probably go to school if she needs to. I would think it might be a sinus infection (often accompanied by a cough...) but that shouldn't be contagious. I'd have the Dr. check her out.
