Got Gnats?

Hi, My daughter has a guinea pig and we have suffered with those annoying things called gnats!! I tried everything to get rid of them. I tried apple cider in a bowl, vinegar, bug spray, fogging and sticky fly paper. I was so frustrated with not being able to get rid of them until last night. I was cleaning a spot on my carpet with a cheap can of carpet spray and looked up to find 2 gnats on the foam that was left behind on the top of the can!! I filled a bowl with this same carpet cleaner and set it on the guinea pig cage and within about a minute I found about 5 more! The gnats are actually drawn in by something in the carpet cleaner. Once they land on the foam they get stuck and cant manage to get away. I just wanted to let everyone know about this! Its a cheap way to get rid of the problem and it works within seconds to eliminate these annoying pests! Please, if you have this problem let me know if it worked for you as well!

What can I do next?

I used the apple cider vinegar and put a dash of dishsoap in the bowl. I put the bowl on the counter and in the morning, there were over 20+ gnats dead. After I did that for 3 days, the problem was much, much better.

Use bleach, pour it in you garbage disposal

I have also used a can of beer. It seems to work well. Good luck.

I had the same problem last year. The question is are they plant gnats? (black in color) Look to see if they are coming from one of your plants that maybe is being over watered ( these are harder to get rid of ) I had to get rid my corn plant. Other gnats brown color from fruit and so are easier. Leave a glass of sweet wine on the counter ( such as white zinfandel) for a day or so they drown in the wine. Hope this helps! L.

Soapy water works. Spray a fine mist on them.:)
