Thank you everyone for your suggestions! I ran to the library and picked up The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I can't put it down. Plus I have a list of good reads for the rest of the summer!! Thanks everyone :-)

I just read "The Other Boleyn Sister" and it was really good! "The Sea Captain's Wife" is another good book I read lately.

In April 2010 I posted a question asking for good light reads for a trip--"chick lit" type stuff and beach reads. I got a lot of good responses that you can probably find under my previous posts. In recent months I've really enjoyed "The Help" and "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society." I'm looking forward to reading "Little Bee" and "Traveling with Pomegranates," both of which I've heard are good. I'm currently reading Tina Fey's new book "Bossypants" and enjoying it, but it's not for all readers. Oh, I also really liked "Eat, Pray, Love" if you haven't read it yet. People seem to either love it or hate it; my mom couldn't even finish it. I liked it. I also like Jennifer Weiner (spelling?) books for a quick light read. It's not at all light, but it is quick--"The Reluctant Fundamentalist." It's a thought-provoking look at terrorism.

Added: Have you read the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series yet? I've only read #1, but it's a great mystery if you like that kind of thing. Warning--it does have a lot of disturbing and graphic scenes.

Have you ever read the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich? It's hilarious and great for a summer read! I read much of the series a couple of years ago, and I have a few more to catch up on. They're excellent!

I just finished Certain Girls which is a follow up to Good In Bed by Jennifer Weiner, both are excellent. This morning I started Very Valentine by Adriana Trigiani whose written a bunch of books & I've loved them all. I recently read Breathless by Dean Koontz which was really different & just kind of made you think, and last week I read Relentless also by Koontz which scared me pretty good.

It's a few years old, but I just finished "Little Bee" and it was fantastic! Extremely touching and poetically written novel of how two radically different women's lives intersect with life-changing repercussions.

I also usually recommend some of my all-time faves if you haven't read them:

The Red Tent -Anita Diamant

Confederacy of Dunces-John Kennedy Toole

A Prayer for Owen Meany - John Irving

The Poisonwood Bible (and others) byBarbara Kingsolver

The Help -Kathryn Stockett

Anything from Carl Hiassen, Tim Dorsey, Harlan Coben or Jonathan Kellerman -all fast "beach" reads and the first two authors are hysterical!

I've just started re-reading Shanna Swendson's Enchanted Inc series, because i found out there was a fourth book. I love them. They're light reading, if you like magic and stuff.
