I'm in a pickle! I'm desperately looking for a preschool for my 4yr old i need to get her kindergarten ready for next year. I need a good preschool with good programs that teach. I'm not interested in daycare/preschool only if there are good programs for my child. I have visited a place like this and it was overwhelming and distracting with the daycare that is provided along with the preschool teachig. And also, at one point the assistant was so overwhelmed with the choas from the children she started yelling at them! I was horrified and displeased. Is there anyone out there that can help me? Thank you!

What can I do next?

I did a lot of research and my mother, who was a preschool teacher, helped me choose the perfect preschool for my daughter-Chula Vista Presbyterian Preschool. There are only 3 classes and a total of 60 children maximum. The teachers have been there a long while, so they know what they are doing. It was the most caring, loving environment and the director is awesome. Your child must be 3 and potty trained to enter. I was thrilled with my daughter's experience there. In addition, the price is reasonable. Most of the preschools in the area were just too big for my taste-I wanted a smaller, less chaotic environment for my child.

Best of luck.

Hi, K.!

I'm out here in Otay Ranch. Have you checked out Eastlake Community Church, ###-###-####? I hear their program is nice for the older ones. Or First United Methodist Church, ###-###-####, has a nice preschool, too. If you want intense academics, try Bonita Country Day School,###-###-####, though they are pricey. Montessori-based curriculum. If you want another Montessori-based program, this place is smaller and more intimate, but the director is nice and her program is strong. Explorer Montessori at ###-###-####. You can also try out Calvary Christian Academy at###-###-####.

I hope that helps a little bit. Good luck.

Hi K.! My daughter goes to Montessori in Bonita http://montessoriamerican.com/. She started shortly after she turned 3 and was writing her letters 3 months later. She turns 5 this November and is already reading 2 and 3 letter words. She has told me she loves her teachers, and when I pick her up she hugs them before she leaves. My friend recently enrolled her son in a newer Montessori school in Chula Vista http://www.montessorilearningcenter.biz/. They converted a home into a school and they wear uniforms, but the tuition is less than the one in Bonita. Both schools go up to Kinder. I've also heard that the Eastlake Church preschool by Kohls is good too. Good Luck!

My son attended Southwestern college Child Development Center. The Center is inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach and emergent curriculum. The Reggio Emilia Approach is based on several core principles: parent involvement, enriched setting and collaboration among parents, teachers, children and the community. This educational philosophy developed within the town of Reggio Emilia , a community in northern Italy shortly after World War II. These schools encourage children to explore their environment and express themselves through their natural languages.

Emergent projects are in dept studies of concepts, ideas and interests that arise within the group. Staff pose ideas and children provide feedback that creates the direction of the project. Parents and the community can also be part of this process.

Basically, children learn about what they want to know in addition to the basics ABC's and 1,2,3's.

There are small classes. The campus is beautiful and in a safe secure place on campus.

Since the staff is in part part of the Child Development Center on campus there are observation rooms where you can observe your children while they're in class without them knowing that you're they're. This was helpful when my son cried for the first two weeks when I left him they're in the morning.

My son loved it.

Good luck in your search. Be sure and take your child on your tours.

Sincerely,

M.

I've had several friends who sent their children to CV Presbytrian & they loved it. Also if $$ is an issue, the CVESD has an low income State run pre-school program in several of it's elementary schools. You can go to the nearest elementary school to you & ask for the info, or call the district office for the info. The one I sent my girls to was great, the teachers were very involved & it got my girls ready for Kindergarten.

Hi K., it really depends on what your idea of good is. I am a Home Daycare Provider with a preschool curicluim, and I have had great sucess with kendergarden rediness, My daughter and I had one little guys reading and tieing his shoes befor kendergarden, could count to 100, knew all colors and letters by sight, could do simple math skills, could spell and print is name, in fact when his dad took him to his oreintation the teacher told his dad that De Vonte was the smartest child she had seen so far, it all depends on what you are looking for. I know Castle Park Elementry and Hazel goes Cook Elementry have preschools, good? that you would have to see for yourself, Castle Park Elementry is on Hiltop St. corner of Hiltop and Oxford and Hazel Goes Cook Elementry is on L, Street.
