I am looking for a good-great place to loose this baby weight.:} I have tried the YMCA in Flower Mound a couple times(free day pass)and they seem ok. I am going to check out Lifetime fitness in flower mound tomorrow. I would like something with good equipment, but also good for my kids. Anybody a member of either of these or a place in Denton? (ex: Brickhouse) I noticed LA Fitness is being built in Denton, any opinions on that place? I love the indoor pool options at LTF but have read some bad reviews for the company. Hubby like kids programs options at Y, but haven't experienced it yet, to know if its good or not.

What can I do next?

I live in Denton but work in Highland Village and have been a member at LA Fitness for about year. I really enjoy the staff, and the facility. It is clean, and I feel very relaxed and not overwhelmed. I do use the "Kid's Klub" for both of my children. They always adress my child by her first name and seem to be some what interactive with the children. My only grip is sometimes the child/caregiver group seems a little large.

I agree with Tina. I love Jazzercise, it's kind of addictive. It doesn't feel like a work-out, as much as just having fun 'me' time!

I work out at Lady of America. I love it they have free childcare. I have some friends who work out at Brickhouse and like it as well, and I have friends who work out at LA Fitness in Flower Mound in and also like it.
So I think it depends what you are looking for.
Good Luck !

I love Lifetime! I've been going there since my youngest was 6 months old. He is now almost 2 and he loves it there, and so does my 4 year old girl. Their infant section is even nicer now than when my son went. The staff is very nice. I love that I can go during the day to work out, shower and dress calmly and then pick them up, or go at night with my husband and just workout. Good luck!

We've been members of Lifetime Fitness for almost two years now. I've never really had a problem with their childcare facilities (they're huge) and neither has my three year (almost four now) old daughter. I only pay $5/mth for the childcare and could take Em every day there if I wanted. The infant area was recently enlarged, and the toddler area is a nice secure size for the little ones. Their workout equipment is outstanding - there's never a line-up for anything, and they have many great options for group classes. We love their indoor and outdoor pool facilities - in fact that's where you'll find me & my crew of moms/kids most days this summer.
I have friends who are members of the Health & Athletic Club in Parker Square who are looking into switching to LTF due to the better childcare and less intimate (less crowded) facilities. We're all interested in seeing what the new Community Activity Center looks like (CAC) but are a little turned off by the childcare rates we've seen posted. By the time we did the math on childcare & usage fees, it still looks cheaper to stay with LTF.

Hi M.!
I am an instructor at Health abd Athletic Center in Parker Square,Flower MOund. I have been teaching for over 10 years in the area at various gyms, and this is one of my favorites!! It has the feel of a small intimate club, but it offers everything a huge franchise would and more!! Yoga is FREE (it usually costs extra) and childcare is phenomenal. The instructors are the best in the area....a very diverse group of well-trained and experienced instructors. There is lots of up-to-date equipment, an indoor pool, more classes than you could ever take in a month, a full gymnasium, Smoothie King inside, etc. The offer personal training and massage as well. Check it out....the fees are very competitive and there is no contract (which is a plus when you are first joining a gym!). Good Luck on your search for an exercise home!

I loved LTF because of their awesome childcare! My kids didn't even groan much when we had to go (the older boys, my younger girls loved it).

I'm canceling my membership, though, because it's just too far for me to motivate myself and drive. It's only around 15 min but that's a chunk added on to the workout & shower.

Hi there! I just wanted to let you know about Baby Boot Camp! Babybootcamp.com ( I think that's the web site). I'm a member. We work out 3 times a week with a personal trainer. And you bring your kids! There are different class schedules. I do Tuesday and Thursday 6-7 at a preschool outside park. Ava plays in the playgound. Saturday is at the Golden Triangle Mall. Ava usually stays in her stroller. Check it out! I love it! I think its on mamasource too!

Good luck!

Hi M.- I work at Lifetime Fitness in Flower Mound and I love it. We were members there for 3 years before I started working there. The child care is wonderful for you and for the kids. We love the outdoor pool in the summer time and you can even take the kids to child care and enjoy some pool time by yourself for a bit before going to get them. My kids complain sometimes about having to go to the gym of course, bu they love it when they get there. I think they do a great job with daily activities. My friend was a member at the Health and Athletic and moved to Lifetime because there was not child care on Sundays. I don't know if that is still their policy.
All of the group fitness classes are great and they have fantastic personal trainers if you were ever interested in that.
I teach yoga in the Mind/Body Studio, so if you join, be sure to stop in and take a yoga class.
I hope you have a great experience visiting today.

I used to be a member at Lifetime Fitness in Flower Mound. It's a great facility, but it is a little pricier. The older kids section is outstanding. I wasn't really impressed with their infant section. It is pretty small. I had to quit going when my son was an infant because I was always paged. My son just wasn't having it because he needed to be held ALL THE TIME. We are now members of the Health and Athletic Center in Parker Square and I love it there. It's not as fancy. But, it is a lot cheaper and it has a more intimate feel due to the layout. I've been doing the group fitness classes there. Their cardio equipment is set up with individual tv's so that you can watch whatever you want. Lifetime just has the community tv's that you have to tune into. I've actually been more impressed with the childcare at the Health and Athletic Center. It doesn't seem as "corporate" to me. A girlfriend just emailed me about a new center that is opening soon. It looks great! http://www.flower-mound.com/cac/index.php I'll keep my membership at the Health and Athletic Center. But, I did notice that they have reasonable daily usage fees and 30 time punch cards for $1.50 each use. There's also a LA Fitness off 407 close to the new Super Walmart. I've never been in that.

Health and Athletic Center does not have an outdoor pool and I think that the other 3 do. So, this might be something to take into consideration. Good luck!

I was a member at Lifetime until last night and we are joining LA Fitness in Highland Village. LA is a good gym but we loved Lifetime. Lifetime cost my husband and I $90 a month. LA is going to cost us $60. At the end of the day we decided Lifetime was not worth the extra $30 a month. If we had kids we might consider Lifetime because it is more family friendly. In the summer you can use is more like a community center and spend the day out at the pool. LA does not offer that type of atmosphere.

Good Luck,
C.

M.-

I LOVE Lifetime in Flower Mound. They offer something everyone in my family enjoys. I enjoy the classes and childcare, my Dh enjoys the state of the art equipment, my kids love the pools and have even rock climbed there. They offer full spa services and you can leave the kiddos in childcare while you get your hair cut, colored , a facial, massage....whatever you choose.

It is a great place to work out.
