I want to have a small get together for my son's 2nd birthday. I would like to do it at a park. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good park for this type of event for young toddlers? I have looked at the city website but they don't really have any good photos and before I start driving all over town I thought I would ask. thanks!!

What can I do next?

i was going to say the same parks, Summit and Fox, and one more, Altura park, which is just north of constitution and west of washington: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&am...

hello! we LOVE summit park (off of constitution and carlisle) for its great shade and newer playground equipment. there is a park in our neighborhood off of vista del norte and osuna that the city just finished in the last year that has awesome playground equipment, and a wonderfully large shaded structure with tables/benches. the park also has wood chips and not sand (we love that so much more than sand!). we see a lot of parties at the park! we also really like the loma del norte park that is off of loma del norte and wyoming (between paseo and san antonio)...great shade, wonderful playground equipment, but hot sand.

hope this helps a little!

Summit Park (Constitution between Girard and Carlisle) is nice. There's a playground with swings (big and little), a larger play structure and smaller play structure, and lots of sand for digging. There are a few tables and benches. It's a nice, quiet neighborhood park.

My other suggestion is Roosevelt Park (off of Coal near I-25), although I am just going off of friends' reviews. I've yet to get there myself.

There is a park right by my house called Cutler Park. It's off of Pennsylvania and Menaul. All my friends with kids and me included...i have a now 17 month old...love this park! Even when she was smaller we had fun. It has a few benches that are under trees, and a nice playground with swings, baby ones too! The only thing is it has no bathrooms. There is a Phillips 66 on the corner if it's an emergency!

Good luck and have fun at your son's 2nd party!

There is Fox Park, which the City updated several years ago, with modern playground equipment and planted lots of trees as well. It is completely shaded from the existing trees, completely with soft grass, a basketball/tennis court too! We grew up there and it's a wonderful place. It's located between Lomas and Central and San Mateo and San Pedro, on Valencia Drive. Good luck!

Hi SB,
There's a beautiful park with lots of shade just east of Tingly Beach. It's near the BioPark, and I've seen one family even take the rented, inflatable jumping tents there.

It's big, and never full of people, but I don't remember any jungle gyms.
