Hi All!
I am desperately trying to find a good OB that is associated with and will deliver @ Northwestern - Prentice. I am really looking for a group/MD that has excellent bedside manner and doesn't mind talking with their patients and really does a good job making a 1st time mom comfortable!! Hope someone has a good recommendation....

What can I do next?

I can't speak highly enough about Stanley Friedell or Abbie Roth. Their entire practice is more patient oriented than any other associated with Prentice.

We've recommended him repeatedly, and all have been pleased.

Dr. McNair, Dr. Garvey or Dr. Chen with the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation. 680 Lake Shore Drive. I just delivered my first child and this practice was amazing!!!! Love all the docs there!

I go to Association for Women's Healthcare at 30 N Michigan Ave also and my doctor is Dawn McGee. I can't say enough nice things about her. She is warm and kind and patient and has young kids of her own. Most of all she is a very calming presence at the hospital and post-partum. She is very supportive. She has also been great now for my annual check-ups and navigating the scary first mammogram! Congrats on the new baby!

I go to Dr. Christine Bonner with Chicago Women's Health Group. I like her a lot, and she has an excellent bedside manner. She's a mom herself to 3 (or is it 4?) children and just had her last baby a few months ago. They are located just down the street from the hospital, which is also very nice. The office number is ###-###-####. There are several doctors in the group, and I met all of them before I delivered. Although I had Dr. Bonner for my delivery, I would have been happy with any of them.

Good Luck!

I've had two amazing deliveries with the midwives at Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group (NMPG) OB-Gyn. They have fewer paitients than the docs so they have a much better bedside manner. They schedule longer appts and really get to know you. They do not push for un-medicated birth but will support pretty much whatever you are looking to do and because they're associated with the docs (they are managed by Dr. Lin who is nationally renouned) should you have any problems whatever doc is on call is your doc, too and you'll deliver at Prentice. I feel it's the best of both worlds. My husband was really leary of the idea initially (I transfered over to them when I was 30 weeks along with our first baby on the advice of my OB witht he OB practice on her suggestion), but came around quickly after meeting with them and realizing how professional they are--and he's pretty conservative!

The Women's Group of Northwestern - Julie Ericson is my primary, however, I have delivered two children (2004 and 2009) and have rotated through most of the doctors and am happy with them all.

Northwestern Specialists for Women is good. Highly recommend them. Bonnie Wise or Donna Salashe. Only deliver at Prentice as far as I know. Great group. I recommend to all of my friends. We all use Wise.

I go to the Association for Women's Healthcare at 30 N Michigan Ave. They are solely at Prentice. There are about a dozen doctors. There are several women in the practice if you prefer but I see Dr. David Baum. I had someone else deliver my first child in the practice and he was amazing too. I have NO complaints. I received follow-up phone calls after I got home to check on me too. Let me know if you have any questions.

I delivered both of my boys with Dr. Gregory Chen. He has a practice with 3 women doctors.
My first was a high risk pregnancy that required two emergency surgeries after delivery. My second was very easy. Dr. Chen and his staff were great.
Good luck!

I have a good OB at Northwestern, her name is Dr. Patricia Katz, she is not in Prentice but is across the street in the St. Clair building. She is on the website so you can look her up and read her Bio. She has been my OB for the past five years and has deliverd my two children. She is not one of those aggressive pushy doctor's, and she is definitely not the doctor that want to tell you what to do without discussion, she consults with you and give you her recommendations, and together you two come up with the solution. There are two Dr. Katz that's an OB doctor at Northwestern, her number (Patricia Katz) is ###-###-####, most importantly she is a reachable doctor.

Dr Lauren Streicher and her group of doctors (680 Lake Shore Drive) are outstanding. Also, Dr Kimberly McMahon and her group (1400 block of Kingsbury), which spun off from Streicher's. I think they handle deliveries and other obstetrical needs, while Streicher's group may handle gynecology.
