J., I not trying to toot my own horn but I sell a totally natural moisturizer/toner that my good friend invented. It is called Naturella. It is a aloe base with Emu oil and nut oils and other good things of the earth. use just a pea size twice a day. She has a patent pending but it is not on the open market as of yet. She is in trinidad for 6 months so she will be marketing it this summer. I sell it for her here in Washington and she has a website. Naturellaskin.com It is the most wonderful moisturizer I have ever used. there is NOTHING like it on the market. It gets rid of roseasa and reduces the appearance of scars so that you can hardly see them. It smooths and tones your skin giving it a much more even color and makes your skin so soft you won't believe it. My friend doesn't go to tanning beds but in trinidad, she is out in the sun all the time. She is 47 and looks about 35. I am 43 and people think I am 32. Go to her website and read the testimonials. If you are interested, contact me at ____@____.com. I do have trial 1oz sizes for $5. the big bottles are 4oz, they are $25 and last 6 months. You will truely not be dissapointed by this product. I also have a review here on mamasource.

I have been married 20 years and am a SAHM of 5 and sell naturella out of my home.

J., I urge you to reconsider the idea of tanning. The incidence of skin cancer is going through the roof. I was raised in Southern California, and played outside a lot as a child. Although I never got into lying out in the sun just to get tan, I did get a lot of sun exposure. I moved to Oregon at the age of 18, and had my first skin cancer at age 34. In the past 21 years, I have had surgeries for 2 malignant melanomas and about 15 basal cell carcinomas. Luckily, the melanomas were caught early, but I have a lot of scars. Just this week I saw the obituary of a young woman who died from melanoma. She was only 21, a senior at U of O. I equate tanning to "look good" with smoking to stay thin. I think the new sunless tanning products look natural, and are a far safer choice.

Jafra Cosmetics has a good "after sun" moisturizing lotion. It helps the tan stay and not fade away. Look at www.myjafra.com/cachenbach.

hydrate from the inside out- Lots of water and good old fashioned baby oil. Try after showering before you dry off, apply baby oil then blot rather than rub. The baby oil seals in the moisture. If you continue to use lotion check the ingredients for alcohol. A lot of them have it and no one realizes it so the keep using it and their skin just gets dryer and dryer. Check out you lip balms/ chap sticks too.
Vitamins may help too- vitamin k deficiency can cause dry skin.

Hi J.,
I sell Miessence Certified Organic products. Miessence makes a very nice product, Intensive Body Cream, this works very nicely for dry/tanned skin. I have had great results with the product myself.

If you have concern about ingredients, I have included a complete ingredients list for you:

Miessence Certified Organic Intensive Body Cream:
Organic Aloe Vera leaf juice, Organic Sunflower Oil, Purified Water, Organic Avocado Fruit Oil, Organic Shea Fruit Butter, Non-GMO Lecithin, Organic Sugar-cane ethanol, D-Panthenol (pro-vitamin B5), Natural Gum, Proprietary Blend of Organic Essential Oils, Organic Olive Juice Extract, Amber Oil

This is a food grade certified organic product, meaning you could eat it. There are no harmful ingredients, (no chemical ingredients) our claim is verified with a third party independent certification.

If you care about removing harmful chemicals from your body and from the environment, there is not a higher level of verification than certified organic. The word "organic" on a label cannot be trusted, the only way to know a product is truly organic is to see a third party independent certification.

I do have a listing in the mom perks if you would like to order you can go to the mom perk page and see my offer through E. Organics. http://www.mamasource.com/perk

E.

Hey J., I think all skin types are different, but I use Hempz herbal moisturizer and LOVE it. I tan also and this seems to keep my skin hydrated. It is a little expensive though, $20 a bottle, but it lasts a long time and is worth it. I use the original scent and it is lovely!! I probably sound crazy, but it is good! You can only get it at a salon or other places like that that sell salon products. If you ever use it let me know how you like it. J.

J.,

The best way to get rid of ashy skin is to exfoliate at least 2 - 3 times a week. Exfoliating will remove the top 2 layers of dead skin cells and allow the moistuizer to work properly. If you are continualy moisturizing and not exfoliating your lotion will get lock in the dead skin cells and never reach the new healthy skin.

So exfoliate 2-3 times a week and then follow up with your favorite moisturizer. Let me know if you need recommendations on specific products to use. Hope this helps.

I think the best lotion is Arbonne's After the Sun lotion, or their tan enhancer lotion -- helps to keep the tan longer. Any of their products are amazing -- I freckle and burn easy so their sunless tanning spray is great for me. You can order it through a consultant online. I've been one for years and would recommend it to anyone.

J.,
I'm an Area Manager with Arbonne International, Swiss skin care company that has no animal by-products or mineral oil. We have a set of products that you can purchase separately, called Before Sun Anti-aging. We have a "Glow with It, after sun lotion" that I used on my family after spending 10 hours at a water park in Texas, we were fried! No one had pain, sun burn or any discomfort after using the product and our tans were amazing! It helps to replace the moisture your skin needs after tanning. Also, we have the Liquid sunshine, tan enhancer with SPF 15. It helps hydrate your skin while tanning preventing sunburn and lengthening your tan. If you are interested in either one give me a buzz, ____@____.com or call ###-###-#### I'll be happy to offer it to you at my cost.

I'm with the other person who responded to you to not tan. She is right about the cancer.
I work in the medical field and it is sad to see what people will put themselves through knowing the risks that are involved. We all do it to some degree.
We had a patient who had melanoma. They thought they got it all and then years later it came back and wasn't caught until she started showing having unusual symptoms ie. headaches, nausea etc. She ended up developing brain cancer and shortly after died. I don't mean to be disturbing but this is the truth and sometimes it takes something like this to get through to people.

My favorite is the thicker body cream (not lotion) from victoria's secret, comes in a ton of scents and if you buy 3 or 5 they're cheaper. I've also used one of my baby's lotions by noodle and boo, smells fantastic and works great! For something cheaper or fragrance free try aveeno products. Good luck! There are good tan extending lotions at ed wyse beauty supply as well.

Hi J.,

I just read your post. I love being tan too, it feels so wonderful! I have learned more about skincare and bodycare since becoming a rep for Sensaria Natural Bodycare. Have you ever heard of us? We have really incredible products for your whole body and they do not contain alcohol (like many lotions at the stores do).

We have a product called jojoba oil that is 100% natural and is the closest thing to your skin's natural oil, called sebum. You can mix the jojoba oil with any lotion, we also sell scented lotion (mango, coconut, cherry almond, green tea, rosemary mint and sweet orange).

We also have the most luxurious feeling exfoliant and oil moisturizer for your body, it is called sweet n smooth. It exfoliates your dry, rough, and dead skin cells, and leaves a nice layer of silky skin that is deeply hydrated. You won't have any ashy skin with this, I promise! Every one LOVES it.

I would love to show you these products if you'd like. I do spa experiences as well as one on one appointments. I have a 10 year old, 2 year old, and an 8 month old. Life is busy, but I love meeting women around the area and helping them find awesome skincare.

Check out my website, everything is 100% satisfaction guaranteed for a year. www.mysensaria.com/bneuman

Thank you J.!

The sensaria line of body butter is excellent, but if you are tanning, I would use Maui Babe after browning lotion, I don't know where you can buy it locally, but you can order it at mauibabe.com. Or you can try infinite aloe. I have problem with dry ashen skin also, but also sensitive skin, especially after tanning remember to exfoliate and moisturize! good luck.
