I am the mother of 2 and between washing dishes, washing children, doing laundry, changing diapers and washing my hands, my hands have had it. They are so dry and I just can't find a good lotion to help them. What is working for you? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Good ole vaseline! Cheap and works amazing! I wasa family daycare provider for over 25 years and it is the only one that would keep my hands from cracking all winter long.

I use whatever lotion I have on hand, slather it on at at bedtime and put on cotton gloves (or socks if I can't find them). It does wonders for me in the winter.

eucerin cream is the best but expensive. I use it on my son for exzema and my SO came home from work the other day w hurting dry cracked hands so I gave him some eucerin cream to use. He loved it it cleared up his hands in 2 days!

Gold Bond Ultimate Healing Skin Therapy Lotion is good. In the hospital the nurses use Bag Balm or Udderly Smooth (originally made for cows, actually -- they're super moisturizing!).

I use alveeno. I use it in the morning and at night. Use it everyday and it will keep your hands soft even with washing dishes, kids, etc. It's expensive but it works. Try looking in Bj's, Sams or Cosco it is much cheaper.

After trying a lot of brands, I like Aveeno the best. It isn't greasy, yet feels substantial and even lasts through one hand washing. Also do you wear rubber gloves when you wash dishes or handle laundry? I like to put Aveeno lotion on my hands before I put rubber gloves on to do dishes. You can also get it anywhere.

Hi B., Neutrogena hand lotion. I had it prescribed last yeear by my dermatologist. I went through the same thing. Even the rubber gloves destroyed my hands and Dr. prescribed that for me. Duane Reads or Rite Aide sell it. Also get yourself a pair of cotton gloves from pharmacy and use at night after applying cream. Wear them for 10 days and brand new hands. Apply as often as possible.
be well

Avon has a line of products and I use nothing else. It's Moisture Therapy. The lotion is wonderful and the tube is long lasting and goes on and soaks in. The pot of it is so thick and soothing too. I use all fo them and love each and every one of them. I leave a trail of dead skin in my wake. I trust Avon and I usually buy this in quantity's when it's on sale to last the whole year.

I dont know if you have Burts Bees in the states, but most of their products are awesome. I like their hand cream that smells like lemon merangue pie. Its affordable, and you could surely order it online. Its thick, but absorbs with no greasy feel. Look for things with shea butter or some lanolin. U any nipple cream on hand, that will make them nice, done that too!)

I received some Kiehl's hand salve for Christmas and I love it. Certainly one of the best I've used. I have pretty horrible eczema on my hands and it has helped a lot with the cracking.

Arbonne. I currently use the baby line. Bought it for the kids but ended up loving it myself.

Vaseline works but it is mineral oil and mineral oil isn't good for you. It can raise your estrogen levels causing an imbalance and can cause cancer. Blah!

Jergens! I have been using it for years. I put it on everynight before bed and I put it on throughout the day. I have lotion all over the house - next to the kitchen sink - the bathroom sink and the bedroom next to the bed! It works well and doesnt leave your hands with that greasy feeling.

Several years ago when I was doing my assistantship at a high end hair salon, I came down with REALLY bad eczema from always having my hands in water and soap. They were red, bleeding, itching and peeling. It was very bad but I started trying different lotions and such. Prescriptions didn't really work. While I was working I used Elizabeth Arden's 8 hour cream as well as Surgeons Skin Secret. At home I use Gold Bond's Shea butter lotion. I still use Surgeons Skin Secret from time to time but my go to is Gold Bond, it must be the Shea Butter one. The others don't work as well and make my hands itch. I hope this helps you.

Hi B., not long ago I was in the same boat (add washing bottles to that list LOL). It's a little messy, but Aquaphor is pretty amazing. My hands get so cracked in the winter sometimes they bleed. Aquaphor right before bed does the trick! Or, like S.O. suggested, vaseline! Good luck :o) Oh, and I see you live about 45 mins. from me so good luck digging out this morning :o)

I've tried burts bees, jergens, and pretty much every lotion available at the drug store. I have always had dry hands due to winter weather, laundry and constant washings cause of kids! I just found this amazing lotion. They had it in the ladies room at work and I would use it after washing my hands. It is the ONLY thing that has made my hands feel smooth and has prevented my hand from chapping this winter, and they always chap!
