Good Finess Center in the Downers Grove Area

I am a SAHM of a 2-year old boy. I am looking for a family friendly Health club in the area. I would also like to find someone in the area who would like to work you with me or if you do not want to go to a gym maybe some to meet me in the mornings to go for a jog.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

I think we are going to go to the Edward or Good Sam centers thank you all for all your help.

If you are interested in swim lessons for children as part of what you are looking for in a fitness center, I recommend the Indian Boundary Y. We drive 25 minutes for the Sat swim lessons there bc I find them way better than everything else out there. I'm very comfortable leaving my daughter in the childcare at the IBY as well.

Hi V.!
I go to Good Sam's Health and Wellness Center. I got a discount on the rate thru my health insurance and really like their facility. Also they have a Kid Korner for babysitting. If you do the coupon book it works out to be about $4 per babysit session. There is a kids gym and even kid's work out classes. There is a great pool and therapy pool as well as sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. The indoor track is very nice.
I work opposite shifts with my husband so I work weird hours and usually get to the gym mid afternoon on Wednesdays, early morning on Fridays and late afternoon on Saturday or Sunday.
Good luck!

The park district is good.
But if you want a pool I suggest Edwards Health and fitness. It is on 53 and hobson.
It has child care and lots of activites for kids.
My 14 month olds are currently taking swim lessons there and we love it.
It is a little more pricey to join than the park district but i think is worth it.
Call over and take a free tour of both and compare.

Hi,

The DG Park District has a really nice fitness center on Belmont just south of Ogden. There is also Indian Boundary YMCA on 59th street, just East of Main St.

I'm in DG near 55th and Fairview. I'm not really a jogger, but would like to meet up for morning walks as long as I can bring my daugther.

V., I highly recommend Downers Grove Park District. It is located on Belmont rd. & is a wonderful facility w/several amenities in addition to a great playroom for the kids. I live in LaGrange and teach at a couple clubs, another one that is good is "Midtown Athletic Club" in Willowbrook, excellent facility and your child will get great care in the playroom. Email me back if you have any ?'s. K.

It depends if you want a pool or not and if it's just for you or if you want your son to have options, too. If you don't care about the pool, then go join the DG Park District Rec Center. It's really nice. If a pool is important to you, you can join Good Samaritan Healh & Wellness Center, behind the hospital. Facilities are really nice, but a bit pricey, and you have to pay extra for the kid area. My daughters always loved going there. We recently switched from there to the Indian Boundry YMCA, which is on 59th St, west of Main. Not half as nice as Good Sam, but lots of programs for kids. My girls are in swim lessons and they love it. Classes are a bit crowded but facility is still ok. Hope that helps! I'd love to work out with you, but unfortunately, between work and kids, I can only go in the evenings on certain days. Good luck!

Have you checked out the Indian Boundary YMCA? When my son is in preschool there, I work out 3 mornings a week. It is a nice facility, and reasonably priced. I won't be starting up again until early September, he just won't go to the kid care even though it is very nice!
