My daughter loves to dance, and especially responds to traditional high pitched childrens' music. Does anyone have any good recommendations for a CD with childrens' dance music?

My son loved Elmo's: "The Best of Elmo" CD when he was that age. And it was a CD that I didn't mind hearing over and over again.

Try Dan Zanes or They Might Be Giants. The music is really fun and you'll still sound cool if you're playing it in the car with the windows down :)

My kids used to love the "Wee Sing" series of children's music. We'd dance to it and do hand stuff and it was a lot of fun for the kids and I.

Cedarmont Kids has an excellent selection of childrens music dvds and cds. My children love them! You can find them at walmart/target, but you can find a better selection at a Christian Book store, or online.

Look into the "Music Together" classes and CDs. The music from this class/CD is definitely children's music and very high pitched. (I personally find the music a bit annoying, but my son loves the class, so I act like I am enjoying it).

I genuinely enjoy the following children's CDs:
- Jack Johnson's, Curious George
- The CDs from Pottery Barn Kids (I have 2)
- It's A Big World

We also listen to alot of musical soundtracks such as Chicago, Guys and Dolls, Fiddler on the Roof, The Sound of Music, etc... not necessarily children's/high pitched but fun to listen and dance to.

I will look for the CD this morning. It is perfect for all children. I am a dance teacher and this CD is superb. It's not Disney or love songs, just good dancing music. After I get you the title if you can't find it, I'll burn you a copy and mail it to you. I have it from a birthday party I did with some kids a few years back.

I love a happy singing, dancing little girl.

Have you heard of Kids Bop? It is really neat, i was at a birthday and they played it there. Its all the newest songs but with kids singing them, and a few of the lyrics changed around (for childrens ears). But its really nice. You should check it out.

my kids love the veggie tales CD's they are not necessarily dance music but that doesn't keep them from singing along and dancing around the living room. Some children's music gets on my nerves after a while but I can listen to the veggie tales stuff repeatedly. Some of it is just silly songs and others reinforce lessons that I want my children to learn.

my SD loves laurie berkner, but personally i can't stand her, so we listen to that one sparingly and at night :)

she also loves disney soundtracks, the imagination movers, ralph's world, and veggie tales silly songs (that's the one id suggest if you're not into christian music. i got that and the pirate songs albums from a friend of mine, and between the two made a compilation of the non-religious songs, which are really silly and she likes them a lot.) the jack johnson curious george soundtrack is a good one too.

if you have sirius radio, sirius 116 is the kids stuff channel, and they play a lot different kinds of music, which is where i find a lot of the stuff she really likes and go download-hunting.

i've also made her a compilation of some of my favorite music that has a good beat, she if she wants to dance or play around she's got some good music to listen to. my baby's an ozzy fan :)

My son really likes the Lauri Berkner band. We have a dvd that came with a cd. They have kids dancing on the dvd. He has me sing some of the songs to him at night. The songs are mostly fast kids type songs that would be easy for kids to dance to.

My one and three year olds love to dance to all kinds of music. Currently, it's Simon and Garfunkel, but they get into just about whatever we listen to. There is some cool Irish music out there, too... particularly Gaelic Storm (the band name)... my guys love that music. It's really up beat and fun. Let her listen to your music... also try classical. It's really fun to dance to as well. My three year old loves music from Carmen - particularly Les Torreador and a song called Sabre Dance. You'll recognize the music if you don't recognize the title. It's a fun one.

Hi J.,

My son LOVED The Wiggles! They have wonderful videos & DVDs as well as CDs. They are geared toward the very young set so are entirely appropriate for her. They really encourage moving so she won't be glued to the set if she's watching them. (And can I just add that I love them, too?!! I'm sorry my son has outgrown them, because I miss them!) : )

You may find it a little "schoolish," but I really like the "Step By Step" Dancing Songs Cd from the Dollar Store - Family Dollar. It has all the nursery rhymes, which I wanted my daughter to learn and although it also has those high-pitched children voices singing along, it's not bad. Make sure to check out the Family Dollar before buying something in the discount store, they have quite a selection.

About me: Stay at home with a 9 month old who walks and talks and loves music.
