Hi everyone,

I recently heard that consignment shops are a good place to buy infant/children's clothes since you can save quite a bit of money and the clothes are usually in pretty good condition. Does anyone have any that you would recommend for infant clothes? We live in San Leandro but I am willing to go to the Dublin/Pleasanton/San Ramon/Oakland etc. areas. I am a SAHM with an almost 15 month old boy and with one more on the way, I would like to try to save some more money. Thanks in advance!

The Twin Valley Mother of Twins (TVMOTC) Sale will be held at the Alameda County Fairgrounds instead of The Barn in March this year.

A new store just announced it's Grand Opening...Kid's Savy Seconds, 327 "A" Saint Mary Street, downtown Pleasanton www.shopsavvyseconds.com It appears that they may sell only 2T-10. Their phone number is 925-484-KIDS (5437).

It's great that you are supporting small businesses and recycling!

Hi G. ~
I recently discovered the consignment store trick too. There is one in San Leandro called Little Rags. It's on Bancroft and Dutton by the Safeway store across from Cornerstone cafe. I also check out Lauren's closet in Alameda on Park St across from Bonaire Bakery. Should you get some info on some other shops, if you wouldn't mind sharing the info it would be appreciated! Thanks and happy shopping! G.

There is a fantastic store called Childs Play on College Avenue in Oakland's Rockridge district. They have very nice stuff. Lots of the things still have the tags on them opr look like they might have been worn once.

I shop there all the time and they have mostly Baby Gap, Gymboree, Old Navy and other brand name clothes.

Also you can of course donate things your baby has grown out of for credit towards more clothes. Plus they also accept and sell maternity clothing and have toys, and baby gear too.

Happy Shopping,
N.

I love the Small Fry Shoppe in Danville. They have good quality used items (some come to them with tags still on) from clothing to shoes to seasonal/holiday clothing, books, toys, and more.

You can also try the link below, It's from "sanfrancisco.com". I searched "consignment stores" in "Castro Valley" (where I live). It lists stores for Castro Valley, Hayward, San Leandro, San Ramon, Union City, Danville and Dublin. You can change the city and mile radious on the site. http://local.sanfrancisco.com/search.pg?q=Consignment+Sto...

I also use craigslist.org often.

Snickerdoodle in Danville is a good one. Also, the Twin Valley Mother of Twins Club has two great sales in Livermore each year. They have great gently used toys, equipment, furniture, and clothes. I think the next one is coming up in March. It is $1 admission.

I visited the Small Fry Shoppe in Danville on 2 separate occasions and in both cases the employees were rude, disrespectful and condescending. Not only would I not buy anything from this store, I would not recommend that you let them sell your items. I have never experienced such audacity from a customer service establishment. These people need to find a new line of work.

Children's consignment sales are are great way to shop for great deals on any child related item.

My favorite sale is called Go Pinwheel Children's Consignment Sale. It is held twice a year; once in the Spring and once in the Fall. You can buy and sell your gently used kids items. The prices are generally lower the consignment store which is awesome! They are really picky on the quality of items that come in, so the quality of the items is great!

Their next sale is September 23rd from1:00-6:00pm at The Alamo Women's Club. Located at 1401 Danville Blvd, Alamo, CA 94547. Admission is free!

Get more info here! www.gopinwheel.com

Good luck!

Lauren's Closet in Alameda is a great place for good quality used childrens clothes and accessories...She has a store in Berkeley also, but I found the selection not as good (more designer than everyday) and more expensive...the store isn't as big and there aren't the accessories available like in Alameda.

Good luck...
