Going to a New York Wedding!!

My husband and I will be attending a wedding at the end of August. I know what I'd wear down here in Texas but not sure for up there!? It's going to be an evening wedding in Buffalo, NY, semi-formal. Any advice would be very helpful. TIA!!

What can I do next?

You can never go wrong with a little black dress, cute strappy heals and a light scarf. Have fun!!

NY is SO fun. I went with my daughter (now 13) for a girls weekend 2 yrs ago and we had a blast. It does cool off in the evening.

Take the opportunity to go get a nice hot dress that you can also wear for the holiday season!!! As previous poster said...some type of cover might be needed.

Also take time to take in a Broadway show and see all the sights. It is a great place to go!! Have fun

Wear what you'd wear here....you'd be surprised, it gets pretty hot there but it cools off nicely in the evenings (unlike here)...so make sure you bring some kind of a wrap. everyone wears wraps up there...a shawl, pashmina, etc. if you can, try to go see manhattan! that's the real new york. also, go check www.weather.com and you can check the average temperature for that time of year. have a great time! my husband and I just went a couple of weeks ago for our anniversary (kid-free) and we had so much fun!

Hi!
What fun. My husband is from Buffalo and I am from NYC-so your post speaks to me. The first thing you should know about Buffalo is that it is sooooooooooo much cooler than TX in August. You will definitely want to consider that. A wrap or light jacket would be a great idea. At the end of August I have worn sweatshirts in the evening in the NE-it cools down that much(my husband says typically end of August runs about 65-70 at night). That being said though, the NE will sometimes have a heat wave and then it can very much feel like Dallas-but that is rarer in Buffalo than in NYC.

Buffalo is also about a 6 to 8 hour drive to NYC(depending on the route you take). If you have the time I would definately plan a visit to the Big Apple,if not though the Buffalo area is great too. Plan to visit the Anchor Bar in Buffalo-home of the original Buffalo Chicken Wing. Also, take time to go to Niagra Falls(about 20 miles outside of Buffalo) and while you are there you may as well visit Toronto, Canada on the other sides of the Falls(not sure if you will need your passport).

Oh and I agree with the others, wear what you would wear here. You will look great. Tell you the truth ,I think Dallas is more fashion forward than Buffalo.

Have a great time!

I would suggest you wear a long gown for semi-formal. Find something unique to you that you feel great in. I love to shop Neiman's Last Call at Grapevine Mills for things like this.

Example...

Add black wrap for evening comfort
