Going on a Cruise in a Month and Need to Lose Some Weight

Hi, I just wanted some input... I have recently been under a bit of stress and I gained about 10 lbs. I'm going on a cruise in a month and I want to lose the weight before I go (although I know I will probably gain in back on the cruise ship!). I just want to feel good about myself before I go and I can't do that 10 lbs. heavier. I've been trying to watch what I eat and some days I'm successful and other days I'm not. I also have not been working out because I've had a lot on my plate but everything I've had to do ended yesterday so I'll be going back to the gym 4-5 days per week. Is it enough to just do that or do I need to do something else? Thanks for yourn input.

What can I do next?

I work out 4-5 days a week....and went back to the gym when my twins were 4 months. I was barely losing any weight at all. I spoke to a few trainers and did some reading and i've heard and read that diet is 80%. So i tried jenny craig and lost 15 pounds!!! It's awesome for a quick weight loss like you want.... I just can't stick to it longer than a week or two at a time...and the food is really good! I've since gained some back - but like i said - its a great quick fix!! If you have the willpower to keep going - I would do it.... I just dont have it :)

I swear by The Firm workout DVD's. I lost 11 inches in the first 10 workouts. I havn't measured my self in a while, however, I'm down 52 pounds and went from a size 10/12 to a 6 since I started the workout in July (3 more pounds to my goal weight, yeah me). I think that's pretty good since I had my daughter last April.

Up your water and dairy intake. Glasses of milk are great 'snacks' as they fill you up. As a rule, drink as soon as you begin to feel hungry. Hunger is usually thirst in the late afternoon. Also, munch of some raw vegetables before lunch and while you are preparing dinner. It takes about 20 minutes for you brain to register you are full so having that little bit before a meal will help you stop when you have had enough. Good luck and enjoy your cruise!

Hi J., I know you will get ton's of responses because there many "diets" out there that work temporayly. The best and safest weight loss program for me an many others is the SHAKLEE Cinch Weight loss. This is a safe program with lots of support on line.Believe it or not, you could easily incorporate it in your diet and/or even take it with you on the cruise. Check it out www.cinchplan.com/goodhealthconcepts.
Good Luck!

I know how it feels to want to loose a few pounds so you can feel good about yourself:) In a month you can loose a few pounds (not sure about 10). Watch what you are eating (try to count the calories, at least roughly). As for the exercise, try to alternate cardio with strenght. Do 10 minutes of cardio and then some strenght exercises for upper or lower part of the body (one day do the upper part, the next day the lower part). Also for the cardio, I read that it is better to do 2 minutes slow, then 2-3 minutes fast, alternating. Supposedly you burn more calories this way.
Good luck and enjoy your trip!

Hi J.,
Why don't you try Weight Watchers? It's definitely do-able for you to lose 10 lbs in your first month. They have free registration and you could buy a monthly pass for $39.95....and you could go to all the meetings that you want to in that entire month....plus it gives you access to e-tools, their website, which is a wonderful tool. Plus, Weight Watchers is the most doctor recommended weight loss plan. And that's because it's safe and it works. Am I sounding like a commercial yet? :) I work for Weight Watchers and I love it. If you have any questions, you can e-mail me directly.

J.,
How wonderful! You're going on a CRUISE! Have a blast--AND don't stress out about the weight. In the scheme of life, 10 pounds is NOT a good-time buster! You'll be going to the gym, so I'm sure you will shape up from that, but if not, PLEASE don't let it ruin your vacation. Go and have fun!

J.,
I'm always struggling with those last 10 lbs also.
I tried and love Hoodia Supreme - it helps me control my appetite and not eat when I'm not really hungry.
I've lost close to 10 lbs over the past month - I really think it was the Hoodia that helped. No side effects and it gives me a little extra energy.
Good Luck to you!

I am in the mode of weight loss for swimsuit season! I always do weight watchers point system. It is about healthy eating and not about fad dieting. I find it easy to follow, easy to stick to, and easy to maintain. Every year I do it around this time to just loose 5 lbs. that I had put on over the winter. As I approach 40 it is getting a little harder but no matter what...the points work!

Hey J.,

Consider yourself lucky it's only 10 lbs! Ha :) I always find the best way to make myself feel good is to lace up those sneaks and walk into the gym. Just the act of doing something healthy for yourself works and if you truly are watching what you eat and excersizing even moderately, you'll get there. I like Metabolife too as a supplement.

Good luck and enjoy your vacation!

I think going back to the gym will put things in gear, along with a sensible diet. My problem is what exactly is a sensible diet? You could eat salads until you are blue in the face but it doesn't always mean it's healthier. I'm trying right a couple of things now. www.self.com (FREE) They have a self challange 2008 and they have a great nutrition section which they tell you how many servings of each food group a day and exactly how much is in each serving. I get this magazine monthly and I came across it that way. The 2nd thing is www.calorieking.com ($7/mo). You punch in some info about yourself and it tells you how many calories you should intake each day. You log your food and exercise and it keeps track all day long. I just started this and too have had some personal things to deal with at once. So I hope to start back up the end of the week when things calm down. Good Luck. I hope this helps.
