Going Green Help!!
Hello moms, I have been reading several responses to other peoples requests about "going green". I wonder if anybody can tell me specific website to buy green things from or get recipes from for anything - wipes, cleaners, soaps, etc.....anything would help as I'm really new at all this. We've started buying our meat from local farmers (not fond of growth hormones) and occasionally do garden swaps with family for fresh produce but other than that I don't know where to look for better resources and don't necessarily trust every website I stumble across that says every recipe works amazingly......so, if you have any super cleaner recipes or ways to make wipes, websites, books that you can let me know about I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

melaleuca! they are AMAZING. all of their stuff is naturally based and they have everything! shampoo, deodorant, laundry detergent, dish detergent and dish liquid, body wash, kids shampoo and body wash, tooth paste. seriously, they have everything. they even have recipes to make your own baby wipes, insect repellent, nail polish remover, etc. i absolutely love them! they give you an option to work from home too when you sign up to buy. i do that also and love it just as much. http://www.melaleuca.com is the website that you want to go to if you want to take a look around the company and products. go to http://www.PerfectWorkForMoms.com if you want help getting enrolled, if you want more details on the company or if your are curious about how we work with them. you can message me on here if you want too.

Hi A.,
I'm in the same boat, trying to buy, make, use better products for my kids and the environment. For laundry, we use planet ultra...we switched to that with the cloth diapers because it has no perfumes/dyes, etc and it works great. For dishwasher detergent, we're using biokleen and it works pretty well. I agree with the other poster about vinegar/baking soda/etc...here are some sites:

I'm also waiting for the arrival of a book that had great reviews on amazon: Easy Green Living: The Ultimate Guide to Simple, Eco-Friendly Choices for You and Your Home by Renee Loux....hopefully that will give me more info.
Good luck and once I get through that, I'd love to share tips/tricks. :)

Hey A.!
I am a customer of Melaleuca! they have been manufacturing non-toxic products for over 24 years. They have an interesting way of doing business, so if you'd like to order from them, another customer needs to refer you. They send "thank you" checks each month to the customers that refer others, so if you'd like to check out their website you can go to www.melaleuca.com and watch some of the videos and look at the products. They are an accredited member of the BBB, US Chamber of Commerce, to name a few. They have very high standards that wins them many awards. Most of their products are patented, so you can't purchase anything like them, anywhere else. Most of the stuff you buy that's "green" at the store doesn't disinfect and isn't anti-bacterial and they still say to keep away from children! So you need to be really careful! that's why I LOVE Melaleuca! All of their products are non-toxic, safer, anti-bacterial, in fact they are so safe, most of them don't even require child safety caps! Whatever you do, DO NOT use bleach! Not even diluted! Bleach is one of the harshest, most dangerous chemicals in your home! And vinegar is NOT a disinfectant! You can google it online. It cleans, yes, disinfects SOME, but not to the extent you would think or want for your family! Melaleuca's products are cheaper, safer and healther, that's why they have a 98% re-order rate and they have grown every year for the last 24 years, even in this tough economy!
I'd love the help you get all the information and get your account set up and get the toxins out of your house! I know my family has been so much healthier since doing so myself a year ago!
You can call or email me anytime!

You really don't need to buy cleaners from those fancy companies. It's so much cheaper to just make your own, and it cleans just as well.
I use a 1/2 and 1/2 mixture of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle for most of my cleaning. I use it for the kitchen, bathroom, dusting, mopping the floors, washing the windows, etc. When I need extra scrubbing power (cleaning out the sinks/bathtub/toilet) I just sprinkle in some baking soda along with the water & vinegar and then scrub it out. The vinegar & water mixture is also perfect for cleaning fruits & veggies! I also use vinegar in the wash instead of dryer sheets or fabric softener.
This is a great way to clean with kids because it is perfectly safe! You can clean right in front of them, they can get their hands in it or whatever, and you don't have to worry about it.
I do keep some bleach on hand for germy messes, but nothing fancy. I just dilute old fashioned bleach in a spray bottle with water.
Just do a google for "homemade cleaners" or "uses for vinegar" or "baking soda uses," etc. You'll find a ton of stuff.

Hey A.,
I shop from a green store that is cheaper than Whole Foods or your local health food store. If you want to give me your number so I can call you and get you more information about it I would happy to do that for you. They have everything you need from cleaning product to vitamins and everything I have gotten from there I absolutely love. I also have gotten different ways to make wipes and all that stuff from there also. If you want to contact me all my information is below and if you want me to call you that's great to. Hopefully this will help you!!!
