Going Back to Work - Los Gatos,CA

I've been home with my daughter for over 4 years, and I'm starting to prepare to go back to work part-time. Before my daughter was born, I worked in high-tech and now I would like to look for something more flexible and less stressful. If anyone could share websites or blogs that they found helpful getting back into the workforce, I would really appreciate it.

What can I do next?

Craigslist, monster, careerbuilders. All great sites. I had 2 interviews last week. Waiting to hear back! :) Good luck.

While my children were growing up, I held a succession of part time jobs and then found a legitimate home based business that has allowed me to work when I want, where I want, and with whom I choose. Over the past 10 years, the business has paid me just under $100,000 a year. I love the fact that I am always helping people to feel and look better and to have the opportunity to make their financial picture what they want it to be rather than just hoping for enough money. I don't want to commercialize this site so I'll write you a private message with more information, but if you want to contact me I will be happy to share with you.

Since this is my first time on this site, I want to be sure that I don't break any rules. I can only say that I have never been let down by the products or the company in all the years that I have been with them.

You may want to consider developing your own in home business, as i did so that you never have to ask permission to be off when your daughter isn't feeling well, or when she has an assembly at school.

Take care,
S.

Are you open to contract work? I've seen some good jobs come through on the kit list. I think you can sign up to receive their emails at www.kitlist.org. A lot of what comes through is for contract jobs. I've been contracting part-time for a few years now, off and on since about 2006. With 2 small children, it's been really great.

Depending on what line of work you were doing before, you could also see about signing up with some of the contract agencies. There are various ones depending on what you are looking for or what you used to do. I only know of ones that place for marketing and marcom, since that's the field I am in. Feel free to private message me if you'd like the names of some agencies. They don't charge you anything, they just add on a % to what you make and that's what they charge the client.

Good luck!

I work from home and love it. I can work as part time or full time as I want. It is awesome, because I have two small children that I want to spend all my time with. Right now I work while they nap and after they go to bed, once they are in school I can go more full time. PM me for more information I would love to help you do what I do!

I'm kinda in the same boat as you, but I've been out of the industry for longer. I've heard good things about the employment office in Sunnyvale -- near the library (Pastoria and Olive). I'm planning on going over there and talking to some one about where to go from here (who would hire me, etc.) A friend of mine recently took an EXCEL class there, and it was free.
