Gluten Free Holidays

I work at Whole Foods Market bakery in Shadyside and we do offer a wide array of gluten free items. We even have a cake-flourless chocolate. If you like chocolate, then this is for you! We have sandwich breads, muffins, poundcakes, and other items too.

Just google it. I work in a pastry shop and whenever we get special orders my chef googles some recipes or looks in her gluten free cookbook. I have seen them at most bookstores. Good luck!

I also have Celiac Disease and have found that my family and my husband's family really accomodate my life style during the holidays. They do a special Honeysuckle (bone in) Turkey Breast for me...using rice stuffing instead of regular stuffing. Any type of "broth" that would be called for, they use gluten free broth (sold at grocery stores in the gluten free section/organic section). Anything that normally calls for wheat, they use corn starch or gluten-free flour (normally Bob's Red Mill). The only thing I can't eat are the rolls, breads, stuff like that. But they keep that far, far away. :) If you send me your email, I could send you a bunch of "holidayish" gluten-free recipes. You can also go to www.glutenfreeda.com. You have to sign up - but it's totally free and they have HUNDREDS of gluten free recipes - and I have tried quite a few; delicious.

I have not done gluten free per say. but my son has/had two allergies milk and soy. I dont know too much about what other foods you can do, but as for dessert cherry brook kitchens has wonderful cakes and icing that are great. I have made my sons birthday cake the last 3 years and instead of getting a seperate cake for the guests just used their mixes. Everyone loves them and the icing is the best. the yellow cake tastes very similar to a spice cake. Sorry I couldnt help more.

Whole Foods has tasty gluten-free stuff. There's a gluten-free bakery on 5th & Passyunk in Philly. There are recipes online. I hope this helps.
