ok ladies, my hand me down glider/ rocking chair broke and I need a new one. I wondered if anyone had one they loved or hated. I want something big enough for my husband (6'8), but not a fortune.

What can I do next?

We love our fully upholstered glider with ottoman. It is wider than a wooden glider and very comfy. We picked a fabric that would work in any room in our house so that it was more of a furniture purchase vs. a nursery purchase. We paid $600.00 for the set. Our church has the faux leather and metal gliders and they are very comfy too, with plently of room.

DON'T get the ones at Wal-mart! We got one there and we got it home and it was broken. We went through he proper chanels for replacing it and the new one broke too quickly as well.... It's also put stains on the floors. I'd say, spend a little more money upfront and get a good one that will last. Otherwise, you'll be putting up more money a little later to get a new one again.

We love ours and it is just the right size... not huge, but big enough for my husband, who is 6'1" and 225 pounds. We got it at the Ooh Baby shop at S.'s Furniture. I forget the brand, but I think they have all the same brand there, just different styles. You pick the fabric that you want. It did take a 3-4 weeks if I remember correctly, but they are top quality chairs.

We bought the Dutailier from Babies R Us for several reasons: (1) it is comfortable for both me and my husband (we're not small people); (2) glider reclines; (3) ottoman has "retractable" nursing footrest; and the biggest reason(4) it has great safety features: the glider won't glide unless there's at least 45 pounds in the chair and the ottoman can be locked into place which helps when the little one starts pulling up and won't smash little fingers. After looking at the Babies R Us website, we may have purchased the larger, roomier model that is a little more expensive but I believe the "smaller" one was great, too.

It was a little pricey (we used a coupon) but it is definitely a piece of furniture we'll keep and use for a very long time.

Hope this helps.
