Girls' Furniture
I would like to donate my daughters furniture. It is natural oak, headboard, dresser and nightstand. DOes anyone know a charity that will pick it up or does someone reading this need such type of furniture?
So What Happened?™
Thank you all for responding to my request about girls furniture. Unfortunately there were several people that wanted the furniture and I couldn't pick who should get it so the furniture was donated to the Southeast Oakland Furniture bank that I understand provides furniture to other charities.

a great place to donate things to is freecycle.org. There is a group for most counties around us. You post it, you pick who you want to give it to and they come get it. I mostly do porch pick ups. So many people need things it's amazing and I've found this the easiest as I don't have to cart my stuff anywhere.
Another thought is maybe contact a womens shelter. I'm sure they'd welcome some nice furnture to make their residents feel more at home.

There is a place in Royal Oak (12 & Woodward) called CareNet. They are a right to life non-profit orginization. Their function is to help pregnant women keep their babies and avoid an abortion. They set the mothers-to-be up with items they need to care for a baby.
They take donations of all baby goods/furniture and clothing up to 18 months size. I do not think they pick-up they are a pretty small orginization, but you could call and find out.
Hope this helps.

Hello. I have a daughter who could sure use this furniture. We are low-middle income and are currentally doing everything we can to save our home from forclosing, so we never have any extra money for anything nice for our us or our kids. Depending on where you are located we can pick up ourselves if gifted to our daughter. Thanks for your consideration. Its hard having to say "NO" to the kids all the time and I hope one day they understand our situtation. Its hard enough putting food on the table and gas in our cars to get to work. I know its not just our family going through this here in Michigan, its still really hard feeling this way. Anyway, let me know if this is still available. Have a great day!
