My twin girls will be turning two next month and I need some gift ideas for their birthday and for Christmas. If you have a two year old, what is her/his favorite toy? I would love ideas for educational stuff, pretend play things, or outdoor toys. Any ideas are appreciated! Thanks!

What can I do next?

My daughter loves horses, ktchen stuff, babies.
For her 2nd birthday (in two weeks) we got her a barn & her brothers got her a 'horse purse' that we found.

If they don't have a play kitchen - it could be a great gift for the two of them. Get the big one so there is room for two to play. If grandparents or others want to get in on the action, they could get a table and chairs, play food, shopping cart, baby doll high chair, etc.

Another great toy that you could do as a gift for both is the outside little tikes playhouse. So much fun - ours is played in every day we can go outside, for the past 4 years, as it lasts and lasts through future children. Go for the bigger one though - they make a cheaper one that is really short and your kids won't fit in it soon enough.

You will really see great things out of kids that have imagination-driven toys. Plus, most 2 year old really get into role-playing and love toys that mimic Mom and Dad's stuff - little car, phones, kitchen, babies - etc.

magnadoodles, their first tricycles, their very own potty chairs, color wonder markers and paper, any toy that helps them practice their ABCs, colors, shapes, and numbers.

Another vote for kitchen stuff. You could even go to the Dollar Store and get lots of stuff from there, so it's not so "baby" like but still inexpensive.

My mom used to open canned goods and boxes from the bottom, and clean them out really well so we could play with it in our "kitchen".

A play kitchen!! My daughter got one when she turned 2 and still loves it!! (she's almost 5 now) Swing sets will be going on clearance soon, too, so if you don't have one you might be able to find a great sale. A doll house would also be nice. If they like Dora, WalMart has Dora castle play sets (all the different rooms) on clearance for $3 each! They were originally about $10, I believe. Might have to look around for the castle, though. It's very cute, my daughter got one earlier this yr. Good luck!

I have twin daughters that are now 4. The best gift we ever got them was the play kitchen w/pans, dishes, play food and utensils. They still play with it just about everyday. It really helped them learn the names of food, too. We later got them the Dora cash register and now they play restraunt. Take our order, prepare and serve our food, and bring us a check. (of, course, no matter what you order it always costs $10)We also found a little washer/dryer set. It doubles great for a dishwasher. (Kids came up with that idea themselves)
