Gift Ideas for Our Disney Trip

So our trip is 2 months away, and so is my daughter's birthday! She will be turning 6 and I want to get her some gifts for the trip. I got her a Disney Spot it card game, a 2015 Disney World t shirt, a Minnie Mouse Autograph/Photo book, and plan on getting her disposable cameras. Does anyone have any more creative ideas?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the ideas! I ended up getting her a new game for her LeapPad, a vacation journal, a set of pins for trading, and a lanyard to put them on. This is incredibly good for me, I usually do so much more for her birthday. But I am proud to say that I am done shopping!! I can't wait to fill her autograph book and vacation journal! And to see what she takes pictures of on her own!

ALSO we will be there for Halloween! We will be trick or treating on the 29th I believe. We are making a custom Elsa dress to fit the season :) She is going to look amazing!

Why disposable cameras? They are expensive to buy and develop. I'd just get her a starter digital camera at Walmart for $30. Good luck.

Disney gift card. I wish we had done that! It would have cut down on the amount we spent on souvenirs. My kids didn't buy big things, but the little things really added up. When the gift card is empty, no more souvenirs.

Why not wait until you are there and see if there is something she really wants. Since there are stores EVERYWHERE in the parks and hotels I am sure she will let you know.

You can have hubby purchase it and send it to the room. I am also sure the staff will be very helpful with wrapping it and helping in the surprise.

Disney also offers birthday gifts delivered to the rooms and it can be anything from flowers, cake and other gifts. They vary in price and can go from $50. to $500..

We just spent last weekend at the Contemporary for my daughters 9th birthday (and my birthday). So just visiting and staying on property is usually the best gift for a kid. Be sure to let them know about her birthday including when making dinner reservations.

Have fun :-)

if she's going to disney, and you've already got her all these gifts, and presumably she'll get some more while you're there, i'm thinking that's more than plenty.

I don't know if you've been before but there are gift shops at every single ride. I established with my kids BEFORE walking into the park what their souvenir spending money was. It helped a lot and made them more careful of their selections.

I second the pin trading idea. I used those a lot. I would buy a lot of 25 on eBay and every morning they had 2 new pins I hid for them to find and enjoy. You'll save money by ordering online instead of the park.

Make sure you stop and get her a birthday pin at whatever park you visit that day. Each Disney employee who notices her pin (and they are all very good at it) will wish her a happy birthday.

My son purchased a disposable camera at camp and I haven't found a place to have the pictures developed. SAMs nor Walmart in my area develop them any longer. I will check Walgreens on their suggestion but just wanted to let you know my experience.

Have a ball! It's a wonderful place and one of my very favorite places to visit.

Blessings!

Are you going to be there after Halloween ? They will have The Christmas decorations up. You can go to Disney floral and gifts and have a Minnie Mouse ears green and red sequins headband delivered to your room. I think you have to order a basket or bag to put it in to be delivered. Three years ago when we were there we looked all over for it. They were sold out. I think they only sell sell them now exclusively on the Disney floral delivery website. We are going in 2 months also! I ordered one for my daughter , one for myself and the Santa hat with my sons name on it! Hope this helps! Have a magical trip!!!

It sounds like she is set up pretty well with gifts to take to Disney.

I agree that the character meals are a great way to get autographs. We loved Chef Mickey at the Contemporary and Breakfast at O'Hana at the Polynesian. The luau at the Polynesian was always good.

A agree with the princess dress. We bought a couple of dresses and daughter wore them while there. They were not bad quality at the time... I still have them hanging in her closet.

We haven't been to Disney in a few years. We went every 2 years from the time daughter was 2-16 and she is now almost 21. MANY great memories. Our favorite and only place to stay was the Polynesian.

Have fun!!

Get her an 8 X 10 (or larger) picture frame that has the matte (I think that is what it's called) that comes out and that will eventually be placed over the picture to frame it.

Bring just the matte part and have all the characters sign it.

Then she can have her own signed picture :-).

Just make sure you have a good place to store inbetween character visits.

All the little girls enjoy prancing around Disney wearing their favorite Princess dress and tiara. You could also get her a breakfast with her the characters by making a reservation. She will get most of her autographs and photos there while she is having breakfast. She should also have a "It's my birthday button" to pin to her dress.

What a cool birthday!!!

Give her some non-Disney stuff to play with on the plane and while waiting in lines too! Travel games, not necessarily electronic. Having all new stuff on the plane is huge for impatient kids (gives you something to do with her as well!).

Mouse ears, of course!
One thing we did was let the kids pick out stuff they wanted in the gift areas, went back to our room, and ordered it from the Disney store online. The online stores run much better deals and you can get some of the same stuff for way cheaper. The packages were at the house by the time we got home.

Perhaps you can get her a blank scrapbook and some Disney stickers or scrapbook elements (look at hobby and craft stores). Then tell her that after the trip, maybe on weekends or school vacations, you and she can create a Disney memory scrapbook together.

That way, on the actual trip, she can focus on taking some photos for her book, and collecting maps, brochures, etc., instead of trying to purchase lots of souvenirs that she'll eventually outgrow. She'll never outgrow a scrapbook, and the joy of making one together.

If you've never scrapbooked, it doesn't have to be complicated. There are lots of Disney themed pages and decorations available in craft stores and online, and as long as you use a decent scrapbook and scrapbook-approved glue dots (not those old-style plastic covered pages and rubber cement), her scrapbook will be something she can show her own children someday.

Give her the gift of memories and time spent together.

I'm going this fall too!

I've heard that they sell glow sticks, glow bracelets/necklaces for a fortune during the nightime parades/fireworks. So, I went to the dollar store and bought a bunch of them to take in and hand out when we are there.

Also, I went online and bought a 3-pack of Mickey/Minnie lanyards for them to wear. If you plan on doing any pin trading, you could also buy some of those in advance and put them on the lanyard.

We are also headed to WDW in October for my daughter's 6th birthday...and just a fun family trip we have been planning for a while. I'm not doing or getting any extra things for my daughter beforehand. I figure she is going to have fun there and see tons and tons of gift shops and toys while we are there walking around. If I were you I would save your money till when you are at Disney!

We went to Disney for my son's fifth birthday and had a blast!! One thing I would recommend is the Disney pins. Just go on eBay and buy a "lot" of 20-25, usually for $20 or so. You will get a lanyard for your ticket card and you can put all the pins on there. The fun part...lots of staff members will have lanyards or books with pins and the kids can trade them! The Disney employees have to trade with kids, so no worries that they will be denied. Plus, they can trade with other kids if they choose. You start with the random ones and your daughter can trade for her favorite characters, build a set, etc. Our whole family had a ton of fun with it, even though I was skeptical at first. Oh, and you might want to buy a pack of super strong backs for any you absolutely want to keep. Just Google Disney pin trading, you will see :)
Have a great time!!
