*Gift Ideas for My Wonderful Husband--Please Respond If You Can*

I found a very unique Christmas present for my husband. If yours can drive a stick, here it is... go to www.Spectatorracing.com. The All American Speedway is in Roseville. They offer lap sessions for regular people. I got my husband the 10-lap session for $50. They suit the guys up, give them directions and practice and then they drive on the racetrack in a car for 10 laps. There is also the 3 session package for $129, I believe, but they have to use all 3 sessions at one time.

One of the best gifts I made for my husband, is 365 reasons why I love you box. On strips of paper, I wrote down reasons why I loved him. One for each day of the year. I wrapped a box in pretty wrapping paper( Love is... 1st Corinthians 13). The reason could be anything. Like I loved to watch him play with the kids, I loved his dimples, etc.

He still has it to this day. It gave him something positive to look forward to everyday. I hope this helps.

I don't know what kind of guy your hubby is (im sure he's wonderful:-)), but I got my man passes for him and I to go sky diving for x mas last year. He was totally taken by suprise and really excited by the idea. I think all men like to get their adernaline pumping every now and then.

Just the other night my sweetheart and I were cuddled up talking and the "Christmas Gift Exchange" topic came up. Soooo, we talked about what we would like to do this year for eachother. My husband came up with this year's theme. We are each going to come up with a planned date night or afternoon . We will plan something that is not extravagent/expensive, but fun and what we think the other would enjoy doing. It does not have to be put on the calendar yet unless it is a scheduled event such as a play or sporting event that needs to be purchased soon. Some ideas I have for my gift date night for my husband are a professional soccer game with a tailgate meal or a day out on the golf course and lunch. I just love that he came up with this idea. I am really looking forward to what he comes up with for me. And I am so excited to plan his. But most of all each gift involves us sharing the gifts together.

My husband is hard to shop for too because he's an internet/e-bay fanatic and buys up whatever he wants online before you even get a chance to know he wants it! My advice is to buy him an experience. For example, my husband is a sport bike fanatic. I'm buying him a gift certificate to ride his bike on a professional racetrack for an afternoon. I've also gotten him things like this: half-day fishing boat charter, surf lesson, tickets to games, etc. If you wrap a gift that's related to the event, that makes it fun. For example, a football jersey with a card inside with game tickets or a waterproof disposable camera with a gift certificate for a surf lesson, a motorcycle book or toy bike with the gift certificate for track-time, etc. And also: FOOD is always a great gift. Have fun!

One year I painted my kids' hands and put their prints on paper. Then I wrote their names and the date in calligraphy and framed them. My kids are 22 and 13 now, so those little handprints are a real treasure. You can also purchase kits to make plaster molds of hands (or little feet) that are really amazing.

My husband is really difficult for Christmas, and it is also his birthday on Christmas Day. He has everything, so I always need to be creative. This year I have one gift so far that I was really proud of. I saw in a catalog a framed picture with your family name history and coat of arms. It looks really nice in a cherry frame, and most men have a lot of pride in their family name. Other things I have gotten for him in the past include concert tickets, Napa wine train tickets, gift certificate to go sky diving, ski tickets, mystery dinner theatre tickets, and weekend trip adventures (I make an itenaray on the computer and wrap that so he knows what his gift will be). I bought my husband last year the IPhone and he absolutely says it is the best gift he has ever received. He loves it! There are so many cool "free" applications you can download to the phone. Most everyone that has one loves it.

If you have AT&T as your wireless you might want to take a look. Just a thought.

This year I am only shopping on the computer and through all of our digital pictures. I am making a photo abulm, through My publisher.com, of my husband and I, including the 4 kids, and just us over the past 19 years we have been togther. As I go through the photos I find myself laughing and crying at all the moments we've had together. I wanted this year to show ALL those "we buy presents for" that they are precious and meaningful...no store bought present will do that!!

How about a hand drawn portrait of you and your child or just one of your child. It could be charcoal or pencil sketch. You could have the artist work off a photograph and then have a nice piece of artwork for your husband to display proudly. Or you could have one done of the whole family for him, since all you need is the photograph for them to work from.

nobody seems to have suggested this yet, so here's what I've been doing to move away from "stuff" gifts: give experiences! Although I love the idea of a gift trip, a smaller scale gift along those lines is a set of tickets - think sports, concerts, theater, museums, Aquariums-the options are endles!!!

Depending on your husband's sentimentality level & your amount of available time, you could put together an "appreciation box". Have his friends, family, you and your kids all write a sentence saying why they appreciate him in their life. Put all the papers in a box. You could then decorate the box or make an album w/ the sentiments.
A friend did this for her husband and he absolutely loved it. It could be time consuming but may be well worth it.

I wish you would have included what your husband does for a living!
I love doing personalized gifts. What about making a calendar with favorite family pics from the last year and special family dates. Kinko's does them, so does shutterfly.com. You can add the pics to nice backgrounds and text.
Does he like sports? What about tickets to a sporting event? Or maybe a collection of something he would really appreciate..favorite action movies, dvd's, games,etc.
My husband is the same and not needing or wanting for "things" so the more personalized the gift, the happy he is with it!

Hi! My husband and I love to watch movies together and occasionally have some good old microwave popcorn with our movie nights. I remembered growing up popping my own popcorn and I think it tastes better so i'm getting my husband a popcorn popper and popcorn. I even found some popcorn cups that look like the ones at carnivals.

Another idea could be if your husband likes video games, I've seen an add for a book shelf that was shaped like a tetris board. My husband loved that. One thing my husband and I like to do is find and get things that we can get and do together like board games we played as children or card games or a favorite is doing puzzles together. We like these ideas because we tend to talk with eachother and interact with eachother while we are playing the games or putting puzzles together. I know it sounds really simple and maybe silly to some but we really enjoy them and have fun with it. We have one of those stow and go for puzzles so we can work on the puzzles little bits at a time and still have our kitchen table. When we are finished with the puzzle we glue it together.

Another idea could be a telescope. We don't really know how to use one but we love nature and science and so I think it will be fun and exciting to learn how to use a telescope and see what we can see with it.

another thing my husband and I enjoy doing is taking drives or road trips. We like to collect shells and rocks or something of the sort. So i've taken some of those things and made stepping stones and decorated them with the treasures we find. My husband also loved that.

M., My husband and I stopped exchanging gifts so we could go on one nice vacation together each year. So instead of buying something that neither of us need or will just buy if we want it, we save up all the money we would have spent on a Chirstmas Gift, Birthday Gift, Anniversary Gift, etc. and take a great vacation. Just the two of us. So far, we have really enjoyed our gifts to each other and have traveled to Las Vegas, Cancun, Puerto Vallerto, and taken a cruise to Mexico. If you can afford to, try it. The memories and photos are better than any gadget or necklace we could ever give each other. Good Luck.

I LOVE to paint pottery! It's so much fun and my pieces seem to turn out extremely well. You can paint just about anything from a coffee mug to a plate, bowl, soap pump... I have seen many samples at Just Clayin Around (Elk Grove) that are based on a kids handprints. I think even with your son being just 2, he would be able to enjoy both the process and the outcome.
Or give your son a brush and let him paint a masterpiece for your husband. You can buy canvases from Michael's (I've also heard that a piece of drywall is cheaper and works just as well). It could turn out to be an amazing piece of art.

Sometimes it really IS the thought that counts. The best gift will, of course, depend on your husband's interest - sports, music concert, plays, comedy club, etc. and then your budget. If it's a small budget how about making a full day of it - wash his car, take him to the beach, get a room off the beaten path, give him a massage and foot rub...If it's a larger budget -- plan a weekend away to where ever his favorite team, band or comic is appearing. Who doesn't love have some remember what's really 'cool' to -them-? Good luck! And, don't worry, being away from your child for a short time will be good for everyone. :)

Does your husband wkout? you could do a gym membership and if he already belongs to one, would he go for a massage, often gyms offer that service. Or in my case, my husband does yoga so I renew his membership there. umm what else..
black and white photography is really nice, what about doing a candid style pic of your son and framing that. I love those kinds of things.

I have this problem with my husband too. Its so hard for me to find anything for him as he just goes out and buys it for himself. My father is the same way. Give him a certificate for an hour or so massage. Somethings Chiro offices have this service on site. Im sure your husband like so many don't take care of themselves. Mine travels all week. Or better yet have a couples day with him and you both go to the spa together. Pedi and all. Find out what he is out of. For my husband he doens't do much everyday clothing shopping. So i get socks, underwear, t shirts from the kids. good luck

I think that the best gifts are those that create memories. Do you have the availability to go on a trip somewhere? Just the two of you? Even for a weekend or just overnight? Is there a concert that he would LOVE to go to? Things come and go, but memories stay forever. :) Try it!! :)

For the man who has everything -- a burglar alarm?

My husband is difficult to buy for, but he travels a lot for work. Last year I got him "fly clear". Its not something he would have spent the money on himself, but I think he likes it enough to renew it. All the local airports here accept it and it saves him a lot of time going through airport security.

I just got a great idea for my husband who is notoriously hard to buy for. He's kind of a geek, so this may or may not appeal to your husband...

I am buying software that will allow him to create a family tree. It allows you to order various styles of printed wall charts suitable for framing when you're done.

Or, if you already know the info that would go on the wall chart, you can just order one on-line. Personally, I know my husband would enjoy researching and creating it himself.

My most memorable gift was from my husband, but it will work from the wife to the husband as well. He went and found a broach that was shapeded like a fancy key, he purchased a nice frame and put a fabric covered backing on the inside of the frame...(lace covered because it was for me, but a masculine fabric will be fine for a man) Then pinned the Key broach to the center of the padded fabric area and wraped it up. When I opened it, he told me it was the 'KEY TO HIS HEART!' I will always charish it and it is by far the most memorable and thoughtful gift I have ever recieved in our 22 years of marraige.

My husband loves the experience gifts. Especially when it is something that I wouldn't normally choose to participate in. Like "A Day of Snowboarding" including lift tickets. Or golf, beach trails, etc. If you choose an outdoor adventure, try to find a way to make it a physical gift even if you are printing out an info sheet about a new park you haven't been to yet. For the people that have everything, (and a hurting economy) the experiential gifts are great. Make memories together!

I have two ideas. It's so hard to shop for men! Ugh. Anyway, one gift that went over big w/my husband was a book I made for him using digital pictures of him and our son going to the bagel store over the years. It was a special thing they used to do every Saturday (for some reason my son prefers to eat his bagels at home now -- I think he wants to stay in his PJs). My husband would often take pictures of my son at the bagel place to show me. I took these pictures and created a book called "Bagels with Daddy: The Early Years." I added some humorous text to some pages. Please know that I am the least "crafty," artistic person on the planet. While my son was in preschool I literally feared teacher exchange days because we had to create some sort of group art for the kids. Ahhhhh!!! I threatened to take whatever medium we were given next and form it into an Excel spreadsheet (my husband took over teacher exchange duties at this point!). However, even I was able to make a wonderful book on Blurb.com. I'm sure there are other sites, too, but Blurb made it super easy. You have to download some software, and then it's easy sailing from there. I am not the easiest person to shop for either, and this year my husband and I bought some art for our home that we both love in lieu of individual gifts. Maybe you can find something you both want (home decor, a new coffee machine -- whatever) and see how he feels about having it be your gift to each other, especially in these tight economic times. He might even be relieved not to have to find the perfect gift for you -- buying the art (that we would have dismissed as too expensive) instead of individual holiday and anniversary gifts (it's pretty nice art so we're stretching it across multiple occasions) was actually my husband's idea.
