What about a "park kit?" This would be a bag full of inexpensive things to do at a park. Maybe a couple of water bottles, a frisbee, a nerf football, a whiffle ball set, those paddles you covered with velcro that you use to toss a tennis ball back and forth, etc.

A great gift for newlyweds are photo frames. These can also be taken on the plane.
For Dad - my girls would buy golf tees and golf balls since he loves to golf and I would purchase a couple 18 hole times at his favorite course. We also buy bicycle items as he loves to bike etc. If your husband loves to fish then maybe some fishing gear. Let the kids gift wrap it themselves. My girls would actually take plain white paper and decorate it themselves for their wrapping paper.
Have fun.

coupons are fun like a free car wash, backrub, dishes, etc from the kids.
newlyweds would appreciate money, gift cert, jewelry lol like a nice watch, or something pertaining to their trip, like a rental car coupon, or gift certificate, sunblock and other trip prep stuff for the climate/activities.

Last year for my husband's birthday day I gave him a portable hammock, and he LOVED it. I got it a Bed Bath and Beyond for $100. It folds up into a carrying case and can easily be transported. It was great for camping, etc...
Also, for father's day I gave him a fire pit thingy for our back yard. I got it at Walmart for $50. We used it a lot over the summer.

Dad -- golf pass; "Lasso Golf" game (great outdoor game to play with kids and friends/saw at Kohl's at Christmas time?); croquet; horseshoe game; BBQ Apron (canvas and paint with kids handprints and/or "World's Greatest Dad" / can also make a card with the same fingerpainting idea with a cute poem).
Newlyweds -- Goodie box with: Plastic champagne glasses w/sparkling cider (or have them ask for can of soda when on plane because I can't remember about the liquid rule if it's sealed?), little fun snacks (crackers, cheese sticks, pretzels, peanuts, etc.), 2 books, photo keychain, little travel game (like "Pass the Pigs" or card game).
Have fun! Best wishes!!

I'm not sure how unusual it is but a storybook/scrapbook, hardbound that looks professionaly done is a really nice gift. Also you could make a deck of playing cards for him, with fun family facts on it!
for the newleyweds a deck of cards, that they could play with on the plane would be fun, and you could put thier pictures on it, or advice for married life.
I am including a link below of deck of cards I made my dad for Christmas, it just has pics of my girls on it, but you can put anything on them you like.
