I was an admin many yrs ago, and my favorite thing to receive on that day was a gift certificate for the mall or cash. Most are underpaid and getting something to go spend on yourself is always appreciated. Flowers or a baloon arrangement at their desk shows appreciation which is nice too. Also, contact your nearest Mary Kay consultant, they always have cute gift baskets ready with hand creams, nail color etc. for such occassions and then tuck a little 'extra'gift card in they can spend where they choose.

p.s. I just remembered - one place I worked gave us the day off and organized a fun educational seminar through the professional secretries organization (still exists?) and served wine/cheese - pretty cool.

One year my firm gave out boxes of gourmet cookies. Another year we got baskets from Bath and Body works. I loved the basket best.

My sister is an admin. assistant and planner, she works so hard like I bet your assistants do. I know my sister appreciates anything that can help her relax. A gift basket with blockbuster gift and some popcorn and candy for a at home movie night. Another one could be a pampering kind of gift, like for a local salon or spa to have a treatment done or their hair.

Last year I bought the staff gift certificates for massages. A half hour massage was only $35. If you look around you might be able to find reasonable prices. Everyone loved them. I'm not sure what I'm doing this year either but will look around for deals.

I give CASH! Cash is KING Baby! I get a nice card for each lady and a floral arrangement from Costco. The ladies love getting the money. I always tell them to buy something they need or want. I know one lady bought herself a Coach wristlet and the other lady bought a perfume she wanted.

In the past I had bought gift certificates for a massage and neither lady used them. :( I used to buy lotions, candles etc. from Bath and Body (honestly, how much lotion can one person use? That gift gets old after a while).

If you don't want to give cash why not a gift card for dinner? If you know these ladies you should be able to buy a gift card to a restaurant that they go to on a regular basis. Who doesn't like a free dinner?

What about a gift card to Ulta? That's always a fun place to shop at. Plus when you shop for beauty products with a gift card it's like shopping without the guilt! Who doesn't like shopping for beauty products??? Plus that will be something that is only for them.
