Gift Ideas for 13 Y/o Boy with Asberger's
My son will be 13 on the 28th of this month. He has Asberger's and a very limited field of interest (ex. video games, especially related to sports). I do not want to get him any video games, and he has just about every piece of outdoor sports equipment that he enjoys. I have no idea what to get him for his birthday, and he has admitted that he doesn't know, either. Any suggestions from other moms of a "special" child would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, Mommas!

Rather than buying him "something", but him an "experience". I see you live in St. Louis, so why not tickets to a Cardinal's game or a Rams game or buy advance tickes for a Blues game? He's old enough that opening an envelop with tickets to a game and a voucher for lunch at his favorite restaurant would be exciting and something he will remember long after the videogames have come-and-gone.
Sorry, but I have to do this. It's "Aspergers" not "Asbergers".

All things science is my go to gift. I couldn't sell my science books after I used them for school because he enjoyed reading them so much.
I guess just think about what subjects he loves in school and create an idea from that.

Honestly D. I don't think any 13 year old boy is easy to buy for...... I liked the idea of a sporting event. Is there a video arcade near your home? Maybe go there for his birthday. If sports is his thing does he probably has a favorite team. Usually a Jersey is a big hit.

What about sports "trading" cards... that he can collect. And a binder for storing the cards in?
These binders have special plastic sheet protectors that are the size of each card.

My aspie will be 13 on the 18th! :-)
Aside from video games and sports equipment (also big for him), he's a fan of books about his favorite sports/teams/players. His father is taking him to a game for his present. Framed posters tend to be a hit, too. And, while it's not as fun, my soon-to-be-minted teen has no objections to cash!

Remember a gift doesn't have to be a thing but it can be something you do. What about going to a ballgame?

Does he have an Ipod? If so, get him an itunes giftcard so he can choose some music. You could get him an amazon.com giftcard or a magazine subscription.
