Gift Idea for 6 y.o. Girl, Please!

I need a gift idea for a 6 y.o. girl. Under $15; girl is not super "girly", i.e. I'm trying to avoid princess stuffl

Thanks!

What can I do next?

beach towel
swim goggles
personalized rubber stamp (need time to order)
a colorful selection of paper/stationary
a cool shirt
gift certificate to a bookstore
stomp rocket

I like art supplies better than the "art kits". IMO, the kits tend to be junky but kids like them.

My daughter is 7 years old and not very "girly" either. An all time winner with her are stuffed animals. She loves them, she has a ton, but that is always her gift of choice. Another idea is they have really cute "art sets" at Target/Walmart, that everything you need to complete the project comes in the box. A gift card to Build A Bear, that is an exciting trip for any child (or adult :)
Maybe a few chapter books, the Magic Tree House is a good set.

If she likes art you could get her a bag or box of some sort & fill it with crayons, markers, colored pencils, coloring books, construction paper, stickers, etc.

things my girls and their friends liked at that age:
Art supplies - markers, paper, craft kits (e.g. friendship bracelet kits, paint your own jewelry box, etc. - these can be very budget-friendly when you clip the "40% off one item" coupons for places like JoAnn or Michael's), scrapbook kits
Books - Magic Treehouse, American Girl books, A to Z Mysteries
Outdoor toys - hula hoops, stomp rockets
webkinz

Michaels has sets of gel pens (12 dollars), around 30 different colors of gel pens. My girls (6) love them and spend countless hours using them.

I have a DD who recently turned 6 as well. She received some great kits like a spin art machine, fun science kits (i.e., volcano kit), magic kit, etc. Most of these are available in places like Michaels or Joann's Crafts (and be sure to use their coupons that can also be found online or in the Sunday newspaper). Fun books are great as well! Take care and best of luck!

If she likes to draw, how about some watercolor pencils and paper, and a couple decent brushes? They can be used three ways: the watercolor paper can be soaked beforehand, to make the pencil colors brighter; the pencils can be dipped in water for dense color; or the color can be applied to dry paper, then gone over with brush and water. I love using these materials with kids, because they're usually pretty responsive.

Another idea would be going to a 'paint your own pottery' place for a special time with you, painting a mug for her to use, and offering her a box of herbal teas.

A couple bags of Sculpey, which can be dried (oven cooked?) to harden and comes in a range of colors.

I don't think I saw pattern blocks in the posts, but I know that kids this age do like to experiment with them. Some sets come with cards that show different block arrangements, some don't. Kids will know what they want to do with the blocks, anyway.

You've got a lot of other good suggestions. I'm sure something will work!
