I plan on giving my daughter's preschool teacher a Target gift card.

I you know her well you can get her something specific.

I think most teachers- have all of the teacher stuff ever made.

I think they would also appreciate items for their class. So you can ask them what they need.

Not sure how many teachers he has or how much you want to spend, but a gift certificate in any amount in a store like Target is the best gift EVER for teachers!! They get tons of candles and candy and pretty smelling lotion and other "stuff", so it's nice to get a g.c. where you can go and spend it on yourself!

Gift cards to Barnes and Noble or the Mall are also welcome. In that way the teachers can select their own gift but still appreciate the fact that you thought of them.

I agree! My son's teachers loved getting Target or Publix gift cards. If you want to go with a smaller dollar amount card like a $5 card, you could get them a Subway card and that way they can treat themselves to a sandwich. I've done that before too. I like giving Bath and Body Works products like hand sanitizers, nail files, lotions - mini sizes, in addition to a small gift card and the teachers appreciated that. If you have a coffee lover, Starbucks is another option.

These are a couple of my favorites:

A gift that helps the classroom and reminds the teacher of your child is a copy of your child's favorite book with a picture of your child taped inside the front cover. Write a small note with your child's name and the date.

Another idea, especially helpful in today's economy, would be a gift card for a restaurant, grocery store or book store. The nice thing about gift cards is you can get them in smaller, affordable amounts and it still is very appreciated.

Teachers love to get things they wouldn't buy for themselves -- a great CD for the classroom or for themselves. Bath and Body Work Products. I still have gifts from 30 years ago!

Speaking as a pre-kindergarten teacher myself, the most treasured gifts I have been given by a student are homemade gifts. I love Christmas time and pulling out the ornaments that have been made for me over the years by my wonderful students, it warms my heart.

Depends on your budget.. You can go to the dollar store and get some real cute teacher gifts. What I did for the preschool teachers was pick up some room decorations for the girls to give them. They loved them. As most of this type of thing comes out of their pockets. The school does not provide all the room decorations.
An ink pen with their name on it is another nice gift. Most teachers I know say they get way to many gifts and would rather have something they can use in the classroom....
One year we got the teachers a new set of high lighters. Both teachers made the girls a special thank you card on how thoughtful that was. Use you imagination......

As a teacher, it is always so nice to have a parent think of you at the end of the year - you are very thoughtful! As for a gift I saw someone has already responded to say a book or something for the classroom that will remind the teacher of your child. If you choose a book, you can even let him sign his own name in the book and it will mean that much more. Or, as another person said, maybe a gift certificate to a book store or target so that his teacher might be able to fulfill one of her classroom needs for next year. It is always hard to get everything that you need for your classroom and you never have too many books in school!

One things to consider is how well you know the teacher also. Gift cards are great, because you leave open the possibility og helping them get something they really want or need. It helps if you know any of her interests, but if not, something like Target, Walmart, or depending on where you live, a gift card for the mall. When my daughter had her first outside teacher for ballet, on receital day, we gave her a Starbuck's gift card. Her teacher loves Starbuck's and we know how expensive that habit can be.

Check out abcdistributing online...They have some good gift ideas for teachers and are very affordable. Plus, I figure the chances of the teacher getting the same gift from someone else is less likely. (That's the one thing that makes me leary when buying a gift from the chain stores).

Another idea - Many times teachers come out of their own pockets for things they need in the classroom. You may see if she has a favorite place to shop, like a teachers resource center - Maybe giving back to the class is the way to go...A really sincere card with $ (whatever you can afford to give) and explain that you want to "give back". Yes, $ can seem so impersonal but given the right way it is often appreciated more than a 'regular' gift. Because that money allows them to put it toward their hearts desire.

This is a very thoughtful and appropriate gesture, as preschool teachers are often underappreciated (and underpaid!) A gift certificate to the movies or a restaurant is always nice. Or if you know they're a fan of coffee, perhaps a new thermos and giftcard to starbucks... Another great idea is a gift certificate to Lakeshore Learning in Casselberry- this is an educational and teacher supply store with great resources for teachers. Remember to always include a personal card, drawing, or creation from your child- this is often the most cherished item!

I think a gift card or a bag or a candle or something that gets "used" is nice. I think most teachers get tired of getting mugs and things that they feel obligated to keep around but aren't really using. I also had a friend that had her kids decorate little index cards and put a pic of each of her kids on each and put it in a small potted plant in one of those card holders. That way the teacher got to enjoy the plants and know who they were from without feeling like it was just more clutter.
